Updates on injured players: Mitchell, Richards, Martinez, Williams
http://lakingsinsider.com/2011/12/07...jured-players/
Alec Martinez will return to the Kings’ lineup tonight (in place of Davis Drewiske) but Willie Mitchell will not play until Saturday. Justin Williams’ status will be a game-time decision, as both he and Brad Richardson will participate in warmups. Williams did participate in today’s morning skate. Trevor Lewis will return to the lineup, replacing Kevin Westgarth, likely in a fourth-line role with Kyle Clifford and Colin Fraser. LAkings insider

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings have activated defenseman Alec Martinez from the injured reserve list (upper body injury) and have placed defenseman Willie Mitchell on the injured reserve list, retroactive to Dec. 1 (lower body injury), Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.
Martinez has missed the last 10 games due to the injury, which he suffered on November 12 in a game against Minnesota. In 16 games this season he has two points (both goals) and two penalty minutes. He is expected to play tonight.
Mitchell suffered his injury Dec. 1 in a game against Florida. He has played 25 games this season, recording six points (1-5=6), six penalty minutes and a plus-4 rating.
Really Kings?? Better pack it in, Cody Almond just scored against you. Why are disappointing me tonight?

Kings waived Ethan Moreau, so they can activate Willie Mitchell. The other option was sending Voynov back to Manchester. They are currently carrying eight defensemen (Doughty, Mitchell, Johnson, Scuderi, Greene, Martinez, Drewiske, Voynov). I wonder a trade is coming, moving a D for a forward.
From Kings Insider:
Jonathan Bernier gets the start in goal tonight. Willie Mitchell will return to the lineup, in place of Alec Martinez, and otherwise the Kings will skate the way they practiced yesterday. Mike Richards did not skate today but did have an off-ice workout. Richards said he would not accompany the team tomorrow for the start of the road trip, but might fly in at some point during the four-game trip.
Accrding to LA Times, Kings may be close to firing coach Terry Murray.
Kings executives are poised to dismiss Coach Terry Murray this week, hoping to halt a string of disappointing performances and revive an offense that has produced a league-low 2.24 goals per game despite a beefed-up payroll that puts the team near the salary-cap limit for the first time.
People familiar with the situation but not authorized to comment publicly said a candidate has not been found to replace Murray, who took over before the 2008-09 season. Murray installed a solid defensive foundation but has not been able to take the team to the next level and capitalize on resources enhanced by the off-season additions of skilled forwards Mike Richards and Simon Gagne.
Assistant coach John Stevens, like Murray and Lombardi a product of the Philadelphia Flyers organization, might be asked to serve as interim coach, but his similarities to Murray make him an unlikely long-term choice.
Lets hope they somebody that has offensive mind.
wonder if Carlyle is an option .
