chinny is right i think. if i trade a goalie for green, i actually finish a spot lower than i did last year.
i'm not sayign he isn't a top asset to have, but with only 25 or so goalies in a 30 team league that can put up numbers i feel that has more value than 1 D man.
we only have 82 G games to get good goalie stats worth 33% of our final total
we have 328 D games to contribute to 28% of the 66% F/D stats or 18.8% of the total stats
if there was stats that counted just for D i would say it is very close, but in my head this is how i see the numbers, wrong or right it is how i drafted and approached year 1.

I still have to agree with Magoo Gree's value is too high in a 30 team league to give up for just any G. If I was in this situation I would try to find any goalie for the year and draft a couple of youngs guys and ride it out.
Here's a question, who is the best goalie available in the waiver's or draft this year and also what happeend last year, did someone have Mason or was he picked up.
Bottom line is that green is a stud, top 5 or 10 guy overall in a league like this.
The best goalie available on FA is probably Curtis Sanford or Dany Sabourin, something like that.
It's not only 30 teams, it's 25 players per team. So do the math and you'll see that's a lot of players being taken.
Forget about Mason as he was drafted a long time before the season started.

Don't mistake opinion for fact.
I assume you mean you would never have given Green up for this?
Here is my rational;
The Gap between Green to Ranger, plus Krejci in this Pool format is made up for by what I gain in terms of saves/GAA/Wins. I was middle of the pack in GAA last year but, I was on the low end in Wins and Saves. I was however first in shots on goal, and top 5 in most offensive cats. Krejci should be a big increase over what I got from Fisher to balance out the PPP. Plus I get a decent pick in the coming draft. Remember, you must consider the sheer size of this pool to judge. I may end up regretting this in the end as Green is obviously the best defenseman. But hey, you take that as it comes...
I don't think you will regret this, a big part of my win last year was depth. With a pool of this size the more guys you have to give you good numbers greatly outweighs one top player givign you good numbers. Just finding enough players to fill the games is big in this league!
Wish I wasn't on holiday SD cause whe I saw the Green thread I thought about my depth at G. You would have got more in return for Green from me since I would have had to clear cap space. Oh well!!!
