Great deal but the Isles will wreck his career.
He is too good to be on this Islander team that will basically be stuck in medicrocy for a long-time.

This is one of the better signings of the day.

the team is full of high end quality character players , no country club vibe going on .
like every other team , some players need to take that next step in order for the team to increase success . Wahlstrom , Romanov , Dobson get a little better next season maybe they flirt with 100 points
Best goalie on the planet IMO, and I think there will be no debate about this after 2023-24. The only thing strange to me is why they inked Varly for over $2M per season while doing this. Pretty expensive for a guy who figures to play 20-25 games and Sorokin doesn't exactly have a track record for getting hurt. I guess the Isles felt they might be needing every win they get so they wanted to sign one of the better back-ups and in doing so paid an inflated price. But for Sorokin it seems very likely this deal will look amazing in the very near future.

It wouldn't surprise me if Sorokin pushed for Varlamov to stay. He has been a big help to him integrating to life in North America on and off the ice.
