I vote No with the caveat that if he gets traded early enough in the season, my vote would change to a yes. But there is no way he breaks 60-points this year in Winnipeg in my opinion.
So the lazy, hazy, crazy, days of summer are slowly winding down. I think we are somewhere around 50 days left before the official puck drop. I thought I would throw up a new idea and get people talking about certain players and I will call it Thursdays thumbs. Basically, it's like an over/under. I will put up a question on a player and you decide if they will be over my number or under. You can simply click the poll to vote or you are more than welcome to leave a comment on why you voted the way you did.
So my initial Thumbs question is a simple one involving Evander Kane. The kid is loaded with talent and continues to find a way to hit a wall when it comes to overall points.
Evander Kane - will he hit and exceed 63 pts this year.
Thumbs up if you think he reaches 63 pts and/or exceeds it.
Thumbs down if you think he fall short of the 63 pt marker this year.

Without me, it's only "aweso".
I think a lot of this also depends on his line mates. If Scheifele can remain healthy, and Byfuglien stays up front and doesn't end up on the blueline again, then I think Kane can do it. Otherwise, his line mates may end up being Mathieu Perreault and Michael Frolik. That being said, Frolik looked OK next to Kane in limited time together last year, but the points never really materialized.
Ultimately, I give this a "Thumbs Up". It is time for Kane to become the player he was meant to be.

I like him for plus 63. He is probably the Jets best offensive player and I can see him growing and producing more.

I voted thumbs up. I think Scheifele is a better option for him to play with and will create more chances.

I think he can reach 66pts this year. So I voted yes.

I'm voting thumbs up. He'll eclipse 63 points, only missing the mark if he's injured for a lengthy stretch, in which case his numbers will still pro-rate above 63 points.
Despite the Jets seemingly sitting on their hands this off-season, their depth up front has improved considerably in the last while, with the emergence of Scheifele, Frolik finding chemistry with Little and Ladd, the Perreault signing and Byfuglien playing as a forward. I see Kane playing with Scheifele this season, but no matter who you pair him with, Kane have the best linemates he's ever had. Add to that another year of experience, and I think it'll be hard for Kane to not find further success. Another 30+ goal season on the way!
Edit: Oh, and great new thread, Axeman!
Between minor injuries and benchings, I think Kaner will be below the 63 point plateau and just hit 63 GP.
Just a hunch.

Thumbs down. Needs to get his head screwed on straight before he hits those kind of numbers, and while I think he's completely capable of it, he's not shown he's ready to become a pro hockey player in the fullest sense.
