Seth Jones
Justin Schultz
I would like to know how you guys see their respective point totals for the next season and during their peak.
Who would you rather own in a 14 team full keeper points based H2H league with the following scoring categories:
G, A, Blk, Sog, Hits, Giveaways, Takeaways, PIM, (+/-), PPP, SHP

(slang, idiomatic) 1. A person who habitually corrects or criticizes the language usage of others, especially in situations where it is unnecessary, e.g. an informal conversation.
Notes: This behavior is almost always found in people with very low I.Q's, whom have a very low sense of self worth. Impotence is also commonly linked to Grammar Nazi's.
Long term love Seth Jones with multi-cat settings.
Points only Schultz, multi-cat Jones by a good margin.
Jones is 100% speculation at this point. I bet if Erik Johnson was being drafted first overall this year instead of Jones, people would be saying the same thing about him. Fact is, Schultz scored at a 46(!) point pace as a rookie(!) D-man(!) after winning AHL Defenceman of the Year (exclamation points added for emphasis!). Tack onto that, he's the PP QB of (arguably) the most offensively talented team in the league.
Jones is supposed to be a multi-cat stud, but don't forget that those peripheral stats are a lot easier to come by than a 50+ point D-man.
Hey, maybe Jones will turn into a 50 point, 100 PIM, 250 Hit powerhouse... maybe he won't - Defensive prospects are tougher to predict than forwards and they take longer to develop. In the meantime I'll mitigate the risk and the wait time by taking Schultz.
Jones is not your ordinary defense prospect by any stretch of the imagination my friend. He is ranked number one by almost every scout in which is possibly the best draft of the last 10years. If Colorado offered Jones to Edm for Justin. Any member of Edm's high office would gladly carry Schultz to the airport to get the deal done. They are not even in the same league in a multi cat format.

I'm not sure that Jones will be a big contributor of Blocks and Hits though. His playstyle isn't that aggressive and he mainly relies on his positioning. Yea he does sometimes go for those flashy open ice hits, but I don't think he'll be anywhere near say, Phaneuf's numbers in those two categories. He doesn't seem to take that many penalties either.
Give me Seth Jones
Straight Points keeper league. Keep 5 Forwards,3 defence,1 goalie.
F: Nicklas Backstrom, Joe Thornton, Henrik Zetterberg, Zach Parise, Logan Couture
D: Erik Karlsson, Alex Pietrangelo, Oliver Ekman-Larsson
G: Sergei Bobrovsky
With all those cats, the "prospect" of Jones is very intriguing. That said, offensively, I don't see him touching Schultz anytime soon. Those cats fall right into Jones' wheelhouse but you are banking on a prospect vs. (semi) proven.
8-GM / WK-H2H
Forwards: G=2, A=1, PP/SH= +1, GWG= +2, Shootout G=1, HT= +1
D-Men/Captain: G=3/A=2
Goalies: W=3, OTL=1, SO= +2, SV= .10
Start = 13F, 6D, 2G / Keep 44 (3G)
Captain: Matthews
(F): MacKinnon, Pasta, Marner, Rantanen, Malkin, Barkov, M.Tkachuk, W.Nylander, Pettersson, Gaudreau, Laine, Keller, Miller, B.Tkachuk, Stutzle, DeBrincat, L.Raymond, K.Johnson, Cozens, Quinn, Guenther, Kulich, Cooley
(D): Makar, Dahlin, Q.Hughes, Ekblad, Rielly, Werenski, Letang, Jones, Chychrun, Seider, Edvinsson, Jiricek, Korchinski, Mintyukov, Ceulemans, Hutson
(G): Shesterkin, Demko, Vejmelka
My only issue is that for as good as Schultz is for pure offensive output he plays terribly with these categories. I think I would be inclined to roll the dice on Jones becoming the multi-cat monster we hope he can be.
I'm with Metaldude on this one, along with a lot of the other posters prior to this one.. Give me Jones.

Short term I go with Schultz.
I worry that Jones may follow a similar path as Victor Hedman. I watched Jones in the World Juniors (Trouba was far better in that tournament). I've been watching the Memorial Cup and I'm wondering if Jones will have any impact in the NHL next season. He is going to have trouble with the bigger, stronger, faster NHL forwards on the forecheck. Perfect example of a kid who could use a year in the AHL...but at his age he'll probably get thrown right into to the NHL because they won't send him back to Junior.

Schultz will not win you goals or assists alone, but he won´t ned help to lose +/- .
Anyway i would take him for next season, but after that i vote for Jones.
Jones in a multi-cat league for sure.
"Be yourself; everyone else is already taken."
"Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle."
I would go with Justin Schultz if you want to win this season or the next (Win now mode) but if you dont plan on making a run for it in the next 2-3 years and can wait for Seth Jones then I would go that route.
