Alex Texier will not play 2022-2023 NHL season
Columbus Blue Jackets General Manager and Alternate Governor Jarmo Kekalainen announced today that forward Alexandre Texier, per the advice and recommendation of the NHL/NHLPA Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health Program, will not join the club for the 2022-23 National Hockey League season.

Sucks this came up after the Bjork deal. I know Texier didn't make enough to make CBJ compliable to the cap, but whatever, life doesn't have a schedule and good on Texier picking family over money.

Intersesting, seeing as he's still under contract with CBJ for one more year. He hasn't "retired" so are they pushing his contract to the right for a year? They can do that?

Edit - This clarifies it a bit.#CBJ forward Alexandre Texier has joined ZSC Lions in Zurich, Switzerland, for the upcoming season. Good chance for him to still play high-level hockey. Former teammates Dean Kukan and Mikko Lehtonen are also on the roster.

The final year of Texier's contract with #CBJ will slide, so he'd still be under the final year of his contract if he opts to play in the #NHL next season.
#CBJ have suspended him, and a joint agreement w #NHL and #NHLPA allows him to play elsewhere (Switzerland).

Since he's in the Substance Abuse and Behavorial Health Program he is not against the CBJ cap, does not get pay from the NHL, and his contract does continue to tick (RFA status in 2023-24).
Due to him technically under 'suspension' status, he didn't need to pass through waivers in order to be loaned overseas, which he technically is/will be once official. And now that the "Loan" status is what is happening to him, his 1yr left on his deal gets pushed to 2023-24. Once it's all official, you'll prolly see CapFriendly update this on their side.
So with Texier case, it was prolly discussed to the NHLPA and NHL on what can happen. He prolly went into the program so he didn't need to pass through waivers to get the loan status to go overseas.
