Yes I know... my response was more meaning either way it doesn't look good for the Habs. I think your idea of flipping the picks for a viable center would be the best case scenario. They been trying that for years though lol.

Take the picks and trade them for a decent Center. Solve all the problems at the same time. Get rid of draft picks as your shit scouting staff will waste them anyway, get an NHL quality #2 C for less than $6.1 mil - done. I feel shitbag Bergevin will view this as a pissing contest and flex his impressive biceps while matching the offer sheet. Douche.

    22-28 range.

Dvorak type C would be the return I'd expect them to get with an add on. Locked down for under 5m. and miles ahead in terms of 2-way game that Bergevin would want his C to be.

Normally 20+, but you never know. Their bluelines is not that good, they have hire a trouble maker in DeAngelo and it's Freddy Andersen in the net. Injuries can happen too. It's not out of question that they may missed the playoff (20 % odd let say). SJ would never have guessed that their 1st pick involved in the Karlsson's trade would be in the top 3.
League 1: 10 teams Points only (Best 9F, 4D and 1G count for the season and best 8 for the playoff). Drop 4 players before a 4 round draft before season. Mini draft during all star week-end (drop one pick one available).

F: MacKinnon, Pettersson, Eichel, Barkov, Stone, Ehlers, Necas, Huberdeau, Zacha, Boldy, , Lafreniere, Cozens, Vilardi
D: Dobson, Ekblad, DeAngelo, Seider, Bouchard, Matheson, Clarke
    G: Vasilievski, Sorokin

League 2: 14 teams, same setting.

F: Rantanen, Kyrou, Barkov, Raymond, Perfetti, Jarvis, Lundell, Lafreniere, Byfield, Holtz, Norris, Reichel, Rossi
D: Dahlin, McAvoy, Addison, Krug, Lundkvist, Clarke
    G: Sorokin, Demko

I don't think there is ANY chance that ANY team in the NHL can get Dvorak for a 20th OA or later.
I think that's a very good player on a very good contract.
Very, very solid overall player at this point of his career.

6th-10th overall pick is more likely what would be required, IMO, to get Dvorak.
Habs fans are *dream-ing* if they think they can get Dvorak with the Canes future 1st.

I could see them pursuing Kuznetsov, Hertl, Dvorak, Kadri, Kerfoot, Karlsson - all viable options with some of the picks they will have.

No, but maybe yes for two first in 2022. I hope this will be the solution, because Bergevin/Timmins are pretty bad with first round picks !!!

    With Weber injury, Danault gone...
It would be better to take the picks and tanking the next 2 years (2 good drafts), even if the team have difficulties to develop top prospect

yeah... I wasn't putting together a trade. Just spit-balling an option.
Montreal doesn't have a 6-10 pick to give. The add on, if i must unpack, probably is the larger piece in the deal - above a Carolina 1st

But that should be the type of player they target.

Hasn't Bergeron been linked to Duchene in the past too?

It seems like Bergevin has been in a "re-tooling" since he's been there. Last year he pushed a lot of chips in and it payed off. Taking two steps backwards today doesn't make much sense.

I don't think I saw this on the thread, but what would Carolina's lines be?

    Svech-Aho-Tera
    Necas-KK-Troch
    Nino-Staal-Fast
    ?

Would KK move to the wing? Would he even be in the top 9?
