Not unless the deal was already agree to upon before. You think if there was they would have had it as a 3 team deal.

Vanek was traded from Van to Columbus directly, no 3 team deal. Gagner played for BJ's last year... that was my comparison. I'm not really sure what you're referring to.

Can't believe Benning didn't get any draft picks in this deal... but I suppose because it's Benning I shouldn't be surprised. Tyler Motte it is I guess...

All reports this season have suggested that Vanek has made a complete 180 in terms of professional approach and preparation toward his game.

rumoured return on Vanek was a 3rd... Aquilini's would much rather have a 22yr old prospect with NHL games under his belt. this fits the teams rebuild mold. Same with Leipsic

At first glance I didn't love it but at the end of the day Benning got young depth players that can fill out 3rd and 4th lines for years to come if they turn out. We have a ton of top 6 potential players and a few top 6 current players (Boeser, Horvat, Sven). Not bad moves if this was two years ago I would of questioned him but Benning has made some sneaky good trade for us.

Yeah I dunno, if Motte can pan out to be a good bottom 6 player with a little bit of scoring upside this could be good. I mean this is what Vanek was signed for, and I don't think anyone in the league would be fooled into overpaying for him.

Exactly you still need cheap bottom 6 forwards who are young. I don't mind it, we have lot's of top 6 potential players and should pick up another high end asset in the draft.

I'm glad teams are learning (in some cases) and are paying proper value for rentals. Vanek is good, not great, and disappears a lot.

Vancouver got a decent return. Jokinen is cannon fodder for the rest of the season. He's there to help the team get through the final stretch. Young guys will get looks but you need vets in there too to prevent overwhelming rookies. Motte's outlook isn't great at this time but at least there's some upside that could be exploited. He'll get more of a chance here.
