Ah okay. I should have checked his status before making that assumption and with there being a relationship between the Sabres GM and Ottawa, I see why you think Stewart could be in a Sens uniform next season.

I just wanted to go back and see this post I made a month ago tomorrow and see how some of the Sens targets are fairing.
- Stastny was just mentioned yesterday on here and I still think they will push for him hard as a UFA. You can add another $500,000 to his contract based on his Game 1 performance alone. I kid…sort of.
- Stewart. Yup, still think he will be traded to Ottawa for a player and a prospect or 2. Boroweicki and Prince + maybe.
- Jaden Schwartz. Haha. Is might have been doable in a Spezza deal, not anymore. Still depends on how St. Louis does in the playoffs, but Berglund is the more likely return as of today.
- Ryan O'Reilly. In my mind it will Stastny or him. Can't see them letting ROR go. Pipe dream as he is one of my favourites.
Man, Arizona has so many nice pieces I would like in Ottawa.
Can't wait for this summer.
I am with Finny, with the salary that is gone with those guys, it's not that unreasonable to think that they could acquire what they are after.......
oh, oh, and I f'n love that the leafs are saddled with Clarkson.
It it makes the world better.....

Basically, everything Curtis Lazar is doing this season in Edmonton is exactly what the Sens are missing. They desperately need the Lazar that is leading the Oil Kings all season thus far. Here's to hoping he continues to progress.

I still think clarkson should shave chosen us and think he would have fared well. Way too much pressure in Toronto and really No good fit there. Oh well lol

The playoffs are over and I am now allowing myself to talk about Ottawa again. When the playoffs are on, I have a self-imposed rule about not talking about non-playoff teams specifically as they don't deserve it.
I don't know how long its been said for on here, but Spezza is gone. Will he thrive in the West playing as the #2 center or will he fade away as fast as Heatley? Don't know, don't care. If the Sens want to improve, this has to - and will happen. Dallas, Anaheim, St. Louis, Colorado, Arizona are the 5 teams I look to with San Jose a possibility in my opinion.
I can't think of any scenario where Lazar isn't on the team to start the year. I think he sticks all season.
Da Costa is playing in the KHL and the Sens will retain his RFA rights.
Bobby Ryan needs to re-sign as quick as possible, same with MacArthur.
8 capable Dmen in Ottawa with Ceci being the only one on a two-way deal. I'm scared that Wiercioch may be moved with Spezza, but I think it will be Methot moved in a separate deal. Maybe both will be traded with another Dman coming back in a trade or signed as a UFA.
Stone is also a lock in my opinion.
Expect to see Spezza dealt on the draft day to give Ottawa their only 1st round pick this season, plus a legitimate player and decent prospect. I don't think the Sens will get a top player and a top prospect to go along with the 1st rounder back in any Spezza deal. Just a decent prospect. Spezza's 10-team "No-Trade-List" will probably never be published or accurate if it is written, but my guesses are Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Winnipeg, Montreal, Islanders, Columbus, Florida, Nashville and Buffalo.

Jason Spezza trade talk heating up. OTT in conversation with 4 teams, three in the West and one in the East as per Bob McKenzie on Twitter.
Dallas, Anaheim, St. Louis and Tampa maybe? Those are my guesses.
This is what I'm most anxious to see. See what kind of deal can get done!

I'm still hoping for the Habs, but that would never happen.
Best bets would be the Devils (no center depth), or the Islanders (become a second-line centre behind Tavares).
Just for the record, the Devils have almost $12 million in cap space, and the Islanders have almost $28 million in cap space.
The Isles make the most sense. They have a ton of prospects, and with no first round pick next year, they need to do what they can to win now.
