MA Bergeron 2.0!
Anyone who follows me on twitter is probably growing tired of my “value defencemen based on how they are used” parade, but it’s true, and dammit I want everyone to know! Krug had an offensive zone start percentage of 64.6%, the highest among blueliners who played 62 or more games. I know he was a healthy scratch at times, which certainly isn’t a good sign, but if he can stay in the lineup consistently next season he should continue to produce.
How many points do you expect from him?
I once traded Henrik Lundqvist and Ilya Kovalchuk in return for Peter Budaj and Henrik Zetterberg… have lived in shame ever since.

I'd expect around 45 to 50, DK
I think Krug is a flash-in-the-pan.
What you've seen of him might end up being the best he has to offer.
1. How often do we all go ga-ga over playoff darlings?
A lot, yes.
Way too much, yes.
2. In the regular season, Krug had 19 PPP & 21 ESP for 40pts. Rookie season, 40pts.
And "we"... almost always expect a rookie is going to consistently score more than his rookie season, don't we?
(Tyler Myers anybody?)
I'm actually not wow-ed by 21pts. It's OK, not bad.
Krug shoots a lot. 183 SOG is high.
The 19 PPP is very impressive... but, can he keep up that PP time.
We all know BOS had Dougie Hamilton in waiting... and Dougie is a good one.
The tough part is that Krug is indeed a 3rd pairing PP-specialist type defenseman.
He's RFA this year.
I'm sure he believes he's worth $3m/year.
And I'm sure the Bs believe that he's a solid offensive D-man... but also a dime-a-dozen Ryan Whitney-type defenseman.
If the Bruins didn't have Hamilton, I think Krug might be more of a candidate to have long-term success.
I don't think he'll repeat 40pts.
I'll go with 35. (20 ESP + 15 PPP)
PS. Gotta get that spelling of his first name correct if you want us to take you seriously!

The dreaded missing "e". I blame the makers of our English language for adding so many variations to the same name (or myself for not goggling them beforehand haha).
You touched on an interesting stat which is his SOG. Not many D-men have the shot volume that he does. Mix that with consistent PP time and a team that scores a lot and he should continue to produce. I agree that expecting more next season isn't always the proper route with second year players, but planning for a low end of 40ish isn't far fetched IMO.

I apparently like Krug better than the others here. I see him as a 40-48 threat in point leagues. Him and Dougie will be running the points in Boston soon.
