The guy at the end who gets it is called The Pusher, he's the one who's responsible for Susannah having lost part of her legs. In order to break the grip of Susannah's alter ego Detta, he had to get what was coming to him. Without that she would have been too much of a loose cannon and too unstable for Roland to train her to be a gunslinger.

Almost forgot...If you really really enjoyed that one, just wait, they're going to get better and better.

Not to get off topic but figured this was as good a place as any - October being the horror movie month that it is.
George Romero's Night of the Living Dead just started on IFC.
Great month of movies for us horror fans!

It's about time I provide more updates. These may be old news to some.

I could only make it a third of the way through that book before I decided not to torture myself any longer. Felt like he wanted to write The Stand, but was thinking about Tommyknockers and got all messed up and ended up writing some strange hybrid that didn't fit well.
I know others seemed to love it, and I generally love his books, but this one didn't do it for me. Maybe one day I'll try again.
I thought about this thread the other day because after reading a few books in between I've finally started the third Dark Tower book. Loving it so far.
No reason for posting this other than it crossed my mind, so I want to share my favourite Stephen King film cameo:

I've never read any Stephen King, but there's a new show based off one of his novels. It's called Under The Dome and it's airing on CBS. The show is only 3 episodes in, but it's fantastic thus far.
I really want to read the book. If you haven't checked out the show yet then do so. It has a few notable actors in it as well (Dean Norris, Mike Vogel). It's intense and mysterious-- every episodes leaves you wanting to know more.

Thanks for updating this thread with that update. I was planning on it but hadn't got around to it yet. I'm across the pond so haven't been able to watch it but I have read the book. Not surprisingly, there are apparently quite a few changes between the book and the series. I enjoyed the book - definitely worth it IMO. Though I'm a big SK fan so I'll read pretty much everything of his if available.
