2n round pick goes to New York and a 7th comes back to Ottawa

I'm intrigued as to what the master plan is with the Rangers as this seems... odd?

I'm guessing the Sens see Pageau slotting in as their #2 centre after the chemistry he had with Stone last year.

I was thinking they were pretty damn even if Brassard wasn't better. The second rounder is a thick layer of icing on the cake.

It seems odd for both teams, if you ask me, but more so for Ottawa.

So youwant Brassard as your number 3 centre?

NY gets the younger player, and I think Zibs has a lower salary.
Ottawa wins the talent and draft pick side.

    seems pretty fair to me.

    sens improve now.

rangers get cheaper/younger and potentially win long term if zibby continues to develop. they were clearly going to make a shakeup trade, i'm just surprised it wasn't stepan. this helps them retool a bit without sacrificing playoffs.

Shouldn't the second round pick be going the other way?

I really have a hard time understanding Ottawa's management.

    How? A 7th is better than a 2nd?

To me, this is the Sens being afraid of Zibanejad's contract expectations next year.

I absolutely don't get this offseason at all. By all accounts Brassard was a great fit in NYR and had really hit his stride as a player there. Ziba is way behind comparatively.. Sure, Pageau has looked OK but still... Where's Turris in all this? He's the real line 2 C with Brassard at 1 and what, Pageau at 3?

In NYR, this confuses things even more.... Stepan at 1 with Ziba at 2?.... Miller or Lindberg 3?.... What the hell is going on!?!

Today, yes. From what I have seen in game play, Brassard is way ahead of Ziba.
