Default CAGE MATCH TOURNEY #2 - New Band-Aid Boys (GOALIE Bracket)

Welcome to week #2 of the three week Band-Aid Boy themed Cage Match Tournaments extravaganza!

After you cast votes last week to help remove current Band-Aid Boys from the current list (http://www.dobberhockey.com/hockey-h...-injury-prone/), this week your votes will help nominate a new "team" of Band-Aid Boys. And I say "team" intentionally, since there will be a bracket of forward choices, as well as one for defensemen and another for goaltenders.

Here you're voting on goalies, and to assemble the "team" you'll only be able to vote for one goalie.

If you wait until my column is posted (morning of Wednesday December 16th), you'll see more explanation, along with games played numbers for each forward and defenseman. Happy voting, and I can't wait to see who wins (or should I say loses?).

    Price. Easy choice for me.

In 2008, he injured an ankle and missed a month of action. At the end of the 2011-12 season, he missed the last four games with a concussion. In 2013, a groin injury knocked Price out of the playoffs against the Ottawa Senators. Last year, he aggravated an injury during the Olympics which took him out of eight games for the Canadiens. He missed time after the Kreider hit in the playoffs. And now twice this season.

Poolies have been lucky, to this point anyway, that he hasn't missed too many games because he gets injured at the end of seasons. So it doesn't look as bad. But he's injured quite often.

12-team Keeper pool, straight points for forwards & dmen. Goalies get: 2 points per win, 3 per shutout, 1 point per assist & 1 point per shootout loss.

    League champ in 2013, 2015, 2018, 2020 and 2022.

Top 8 forwards, 5 dmen and 2 goalies count.

We keep 15 players (any position) plus two rookies.

Forwards: Panarin, Ovechkin, Kopitar, Stamkos, Tuch, Rust, Marchessault, Pavelski, Miller, Bertuzzi, Stone, Kakko, Brown, Stankoven, Kovalenko
Defence: Hedman, Fox, Matheson, Thrun, Jiricek
Goalies: Kochetkov, Talbot, Vasilevskiy, Campbell, Schmid

Went with Bobrovsky. Guy always seems to be getting himself hurt.

Without checking numbers I went with Pavelec, thinking he missed quite a bit. Not as much as I had thought so Bobrovsky with the most votes so far, especially recently, is a good choice. Lehner as well.

Bobrovsky like clockwork. Never played more than 60 games despite being a clear cut "workhorse" starter for the last 4 years for the Jackets. His three to four week IR stints are as reliable as the change of the seasons.

Side credit goes to Lehner though for having probably the worst timed injuries of this grouping. There is a strong correlation between him getting opportunity and then getting hurt immediately after. Most recently: 14/15 - Anderson gets hurt, Lehner's time to shine! Instead he gets hurt and Hammond works miracles to make Lehner expendable. 15/16 - Lehner lucky to get a bona fide starter's gig opportunity, grab the bull by the horns! But no, he gets hurt and the Sabres do just fine with Ullmark and co.

Something is seriously wrong with my list if I'm missing all these guys. The only non-BAB here is Price and Bob...and they're the top vote getters!

The thing with goalies is - it doesn't matter if they get hurt for 10 games, because they still play their 65. So missing three weeks each year doesn't kill poolies. So I don't even consider Bobrovsky or Price
