I think this is a pretty good deal for a goalie with Bernier's decent numbers. As the team around him gets better,,then so too will Bernier.

Because he's an average goalie on a bad team, it's better to overpay a bit on a short contract than get him on a long contract. He'll get about this in 2 yrs just because his numbers will be bad IF he decides to resign. They have Reimer next yr to, and it'll be a "Who's gonna be the goalie in 3 yrs" test.

I think Bernier sacrificed term for a bigger pay, and it's a moveable contract if the Leafs do decide to get some assets back.
