McDavid for Eichel+

First off I'd like to say thanks for all the advice in my post about Hanifin and Klingberg. Your points were received well. Klingberg it was.

Anyways, like I mentioned before I'm at the end of a rebuild. I have Mcdavid and a butt load of blue chip prospects and young NHL Studs. We held our draft over the weekend and yesterday I was offered Eichel and McKinnon for Mcdavid+. The "+" is still in conversation but it's looking like either Mantha, Draisaitl or Strome plus a second round Pick in 2016.

10 team Points only Dynasty league. 1P goal, 1P assist. Forwards, defence and goalies for positions.

Whats your take on it? Is this a wash in years to come? Hold on to Mcdavid? Have him give me his dog in the trade? Thanks ahead of time. Props to everyone

I'd keep McDavid unless you get your socks blown off so this isn't a trade I would do.

I really don't get why you should add another prospect and even a draft pick.

With all the trades which were posted here for McDavid, you shouldn't even consider this offer. Put him on the block and wait for someone to offer the world for him. Otherwise just keep him.

Eichel & McKinnon for McDavid & 2nd MIGHT be fair, but barely. Considering the potential of McD though I would pass on just that offer.

Asking to add a Mantha etc. is outrageous.

In 2-3 years , we'll look back abd see how funny it was to compare the two . Media just need comparisons . McDavid side for me but it was a nice effort of the other GM to offer Eichel and McKinnon . I think this was his final thought after the ridiculous first offer .

I'd possibly consider MacK and Eichel for McD, but even than I think I'd rather have the McD side. Stand pat, or if you really want to move him let it be known to the entire league and see what offers you get.

One way to look at is if you replace Connor with Sidney and see if you would do it.

It's not ridiculous to entertain this trade.
Until we know the roster depth, the trade can't be evaluated.

Player value is all about relative difference to the last counting player.

For example,
Part I: Put a Scoring Number on the Players
100 - McDavid
80 - Eichel
75 - MacKinnon
??? - WaiverWireScrub thrown in with McDavid

Part II - Count the relative difference to last counting forwards.
In a 10 team x 6F pool, there's 60F in play... and the #60 NHL F might score 55pts every year.
This makes:
+45 McDavid
+25 Eichel
+20 MacKinnon
--- Scrub
*This shakes out about even... but if the McDavid team can replace the Scrub with a guy better than 55pts... he wins.


In a 10 team x 12F pool, there's 120 F in play... and the #120F in the NHL might score 35pts per year.
+65 McDavid
+45 Eichel
+40 MacKinnon
--- Scrub

Now, here... Eichel + MacKinnon (+85 net) is better than McDavid + WaiverScrub (+65 net).

All about relative difference to last counting forward.
League depth is important in 2-for-1 type trades.

So... I don't know which side is better... it could be either... but I know that it's not necessarily McDavid just by default.
Q: Which side would an NHL team take?
A: I'd bet it would be Eichel/MacKinnon, but that's an example of a 30-team league with 23-players each.

I agree. McD for Mac and JE wouldn't be too bad but to be asked to throw in another young player + a draft pick is far too rich for my blood.

Trading McD+ in a points only dynasty is a loss IMO. I wouldn't want to move the best player in this deal period.
