Just landed EK. Help me feel better about it.

Trying to turn the 2nd last placed team I took over a year ago into a long-term contender here. The other GM originally wanted Voracek, but I managed to sub Simmonds in there with an upgraded pick or two.

Lose a multi-cat stud in Simmonds here but I held onto Voracek. Pushing to hold onto/acquire more high-end, top 50 players going forward. And with 6 D, I plan on targeting the big Hit/Blk Dmen in the draft - I've acquired 8 picks in the first 4 rounds so I will reach a bit to land 2 or 3 of them to lock down those cats.

Youer team is very young but with McDavid up front, Karlsson on the back-end and some solid goaltending I think you've set yourself up nicely down the road.

Hopefully by the time you hit 2017 your team is competing and he won't get a lottery pick out of it

Yeah, I think so too. I took over the 2nd last placed team last summer and ended finishing 5th last, I think. I also traded for another team's 1st round pick early in the year as I suspected he would finish last and he did, and turned that pick into McDavid.

I like it as well -

With McDavid and EK - you could have the best player at both F and D starting in 2016-17, with some smart drafting and management, you could be VERY competitive quite soon.

Good deal - You ended up with the best player - who is younger. Losing Keith hurts a bit but your team is being built for 2-3 years down the road to contend for years.
