ANd its a cap league.
This is a bigger trade for our pool. First off, I have decent assets and it won't hurt me to trade off.
I get Stamkos and Lander.
I give up Stepan, Nurse, Mackenzie, Berglund.
multi stat league so all these players have legit value
Your thoughts?
ANd its a cap league.
This is an important nugget detail to your question. I expect Stamkos to be shopped and traded a lot in the next year with his current contract about to expire after next season.
Are you prepared to take on his big ass raise? I wont be surprised to see him get somewhere between 9-10M per season from TB and much like the Toews and Kane deals, a lot of GMs werent prepared for that. They ended up taking a lower return because of this.
Without knowing all the details about your roster and cap situation (and your actual league details around the cap), I would probably keep what you have. Sure you will get one more year of Stamkos at a regular rate, but it could very well put you in a bad spot next year.
Lets not forget that Stepan is about to get a raise after this year too but no where what Stamkos is about to receive next year.

My cap is in good shape and I can handle the cap hit. My roster is good. Won this past season. Prospect list is strong ect.
I like the trade
10 team (6 keeper)
Roto G,A,+/-,PPP,SOG,HIT,W,L,SV,GAA,SV%
(8F,4D,1U,2G,7B)
F - Crosby, Ovechkin, Giroux, P. Kane, Tarasenko
D -
G - Rask,
If you can afford to take on a possible 9-10M then the Stamkos side is the winner normally, but keep in mind, that 9-10M will be long term and you will have others eventually getting raises too. As I say, without knowing the league setup for salary cap (do you follow the NHL cap number, how many teams in your league, etc) it's really hard to justify taking on that much cap for only one skater.
Stamkos is going to tie up a lot of fantasy owners when it comes to cap management for years. Why do you think the other GM is shopping him? He knows what's coming as far as Stamkos and his raise.
It's your team, but I wouldnt take him, even if it's Stamkos. Cap leagues are won and lost around cap management.

Im not a cap expert but this seems like an easy yes. Even with his huge hit- Stammer should get back into at least top ten territory (im guessing better). Youre giving up "intriguing" pieces but nothing close to a Stammer. just my opinion...
You're the reigning champ. That means you're automatically a contender next season. Keep Stammer and go for the back-to-back while that window is still open.
This is a no brainer, especially with Landy in the mix.
Thank you for all your help/feedback. I decided to take the trade.
