#NYR, Zuccarello have agreed to base of 4-year, $18 million deal; discussion on no-trade/protection all that remains

I like Zucc- this is a decent deal imo. I usually get nervous about mid tier scorers with that kind of money but his work ethic is top notch- and I think theyre paying for what hes done- whie there may be a bit of upside there yet. Term is great for rangers- not so much for zucc imho...

I like the contract. Not nearly as much risk as if he hit the open market and got a deal between 5 and 6 million on a team where we don't know how well he fits. At least we know in New York he has been a solid fit and the cap hit is very manageable.

yea it's pretty fair, pretty much what i thought he'd get if he stayed in new york. i thought he'd walk for sure and get 5M minimum but i didn't anticipate the arizona trade threat.

He must have watched Sportscentre from last year and saw what happened to Callahan. He is doing well in NY, and didn't want to frig it up. Good contract for the Rangers, decent enough for him. Win - win really!

If I played sports professionaly in Manhattan and loved it there, I would do whatever it takes to stay. there is no other city like it in the NHL.

I'm more of a florida or Southern California guy myself though hahaha

He would've easily got 5mil on the open market, As much as his numbers aren't elite, he truly does bring some offense regardless of linemates. Good deal.

Oh thank goodness, I thought he might have resigned! lol

I like the way he plays, especially for a small forward.

My only comlaint about MZA is that he needs to shoot more often. I understand he wants to set up his team mates but NY needs him to score too.

Otherwise you have to love his puck pursuit, never say die attitude and feisty play. NY is certainly better with him, than without
Consider Sim Hockey because guys who play shutdown minutes, deflect shots and clear creases build championships. Yet in fantasy they litter the unwanted UFA lists.

Really fair imo. Glad to have him stick around. I read he was after 5.5 and was offered 4.5. So I guess they met in the middle at 4.5.
