Default Can't sell high on Hudler

Jiri Hudler's off to a hell of a start, scoring almost a point a game and consistently in the NHL's top 20 in scoring. I've been trying to 'sell high' as I'm not contending this year, but no one wants this guy. Where's the love for Hudler?

Any ideas on a good trade target for him?

Other than PTS, he doesn't provide in any other categories, probably why he is not being valued very high..

Imho, Hudler would be a good add-on to a trade, where you would do a 2 for 1 trade..

one on one, Hudler would probably get you a young unproven player or someone like plekanec.

In my specific case it's a points only league, but yeah, that might explain why Hudler isn't getting respect in the fantasy hockey world generally.

I think he might keep it up this year. He's seeing tons of ice time and has a historically high shooting %. I think an end line of 65 points is totally doable.

Too bad you can't sell him yet. I agree he'd be a good add-on to a deal. If he keeps it up, though, you might be able to squeeze something at deadline.

What do you mean? It seems to me that it's the reverse - no one perceives him as having value, though he actually does (31 points in 34 games).

Just from my anecdotal experience, in points only league, that's where I see his name being thrown around in trades, due to the fact that yes he has 31 points in 34 games.

In multicat leagues, he doesn't have much value

The OP is in a points only league. I have him on my team too and there isn't a hint of interest in him despite his scoring pace, I'm in a roto league but there still should be some value.

Its likely just a combination of many things; He's 30, he's never scored 60 points, he's not a "big name", and most people will expect Calgary to slow down as the season goes on.

You may have to wait a bit but target a contending team thats rostering a few weaker players. He probably still won't get you much other than a mid-round pick or a boom-or-bust prospect. Maybe you could get creative and trade him for future considerations, 4th rounder now, 3rd rounder if he clears 60 points, 2nd rounder if he clears 65 or something like that.

He's a great toss in candidate for a 2-1 type trade. On his own not so much. I'm just going to ride him until he's frittered out. And if not I'll ride him from the bench when needed with confidence.

Unfortunately, people only see the name and don't look at the numbers (which is what really wins fantasy pools). For whatever reason, people don't see value when they see the name Jiri Hudler. If you can't get proper value from him, keep him and enjoy the production.

Some players are worth more to your team than they are in a trade. Keep Hudler. He'll be a nice contributor on your team when it does build itself up and becomes competitive.

same here, hudler has no love. Others value him at last years pts while they hype up their hot starts (forsberg) to 70 pt players.

its tough to deal with shit like that in terms of tradetalks.

He did the same thing last year
I think he had something like 25 in the first 25 and only finished with 54
I do see him easily breaking 60 this year though. He's really come around as a big leader on that team, and is just buzzing every Calgary game I see
Its a shame that there isnt a contender in your league to take him
If youre contending soon, I can see him being around close to the 60 mark for the next couple years, so maybe its not so bad to keep him

Not to underestimate in the equation: he's got tremendous chemistry with Johnny Gaudreau.
These two find each on the ice a bit like the Sedins do. If Johnny is the real deal, which I believe he is, Hudler becomes suddenly valuable.
His value could actually go up before it goes down. Not saying that he'll be a PPG player, but if he settles in the 60-65 zone, he'll be an asset on your team or in a trade.
He has quality overall and PP ice-time, the trust of Hartley and he's become a leader on the Flames.
    Points-only keeper league. 12 teams. Keep any 12 players. Dress 12F - 6D - 2G.
