Default Best Ruff & Tuff DMen

Shoutout to Pengwin7, the master of drafting big, bad and mean D.

Anyways, any generally unnoticed guys who are posting overall big PIM/HITS/BLKS?

My weight on the importance of the categories is in the order I listed ^.

Good chance, if they are putting up good numbers, they are already noticed but someone like Simon Depres has been a surprise. Most thought he would be more of an offensive D but his PIMs, hits and blks are solid.

Stephane Robidas is a name that may still be more available than a young guy like Despres and is putting up decent peripherals as well.

Yeah, Despres looks super solid. His +/- is great too, since he's on the Pens. Ugh, not available though.

    Great list!

Yeh, I am not surprised about Despres being unavailable.

Robert Bortuzzo (PIT) & Kevan Miller (BOS) are two personal favourites... though Bortuzzo is more of HIT/PIM guy... who isn't playing enough SH minutes to get BLK.
Especially in "daily" set maxGP Roto leagues... hey, if they don't play... no harm.
I do especially love the D-men on good teams, because along with the grit (PIM/HIT/BLK)... I like to make sure they are "even" or PLUS defensemen.
Nick Holden and his massive MINUS is burning me bad in a couple leagues this year.

When he plays, so for "daily leagues", ANA's #6/#7 defenseman Ben Lovejoy & Mark Fistric are guys that can put up around 2-3 HIT/BLK per game.

Of key note, IMO on HIT/BLK.
A study I did recently found that there are a total of TWICE as many HIT in the league as BLK.
Which means... since your forward get some HIT... you should look to roster D-men that have higher BLK totals.... because BLK are rarer... as a stat.
This actually makes Roman Polak a pretty good rostering guy.

If you've got the choice between a 50 HIT, 40 BLK guy and a 40 HIT, 50 BLK guy... take the "BLK" guy with the 40/50.

Probably not available in deeper leagues but Travis Hamonic and especially Brooks Orpik goon it up big time.

This might be too obvious but since you are in Yahoo - go to players, filter for anything but goaltenders and then click the top of the blocks column and it will sort players from high to low - you can then scan across to see how their hits and PIMs look.

Check out Borowiecki from Ottawa or Polak/Holzer from Tor for tons of hits/blocks.
