I always play my best lineup regardless of opponent. But that's just me.
I would normally bench Thornton on the road against the Bruins, but I notice Rask is getting the start - hmmm, do I or don't I?

Is there another player you would be inserting in the C position tonight instead? I don't understand why you would bench Thornton for the sake of just benching him. Worst case scenario you might come out on the wrong side of plus/minus but gain a few faceoff wins no matter what.
I tend to keep the benchings to the end of the week with just goaltenders after minimum games have been met to hold onto S%/GAA cats.

I was going to ask if you were being facetious.

No I am not being facetious - in a max game roto league you don't just throw shite at the wall and hope something sticks - that approach makes sense in head to head and points leagues with no games limitation, for sure. Lots of guys use the same approach in max games roto and 95% of the time, they end the season looking up at the bumholes of the team or teams ahead of them in the standings.
Granted there are times when you end up with bench points that you would love to have, but in my experience the odds favor strategically playing matchups to increase your points per game average in cats. You just bite it when you make a bad call, but that is offset frequently by the games you save when your dud does squat.
Thornton is now 1/4 of the way to doing his much anticipated goal celebration!

I didnt realize 6 points in 6 games was shite
id like to have that kind of shite lol
He hasn't been shooting much, isn't on the first powerplay and not taking a lot of faceoffs as he is playing ES with Pavelski. Facing Rask who I expected to rebound at home, I make that kind of call everyday. Sometimes like today, it doesn't work but that is much less frequent than when it does work, so on average I come out well ahead of the game. Last year in a very competitive roto league I scored nearly 90% of the points available to one team, so try and convince me differently.
Well clearly you dont need any help then
Wasn't aware this became a debate about player deployment. Haven't done these since high school so I'm a bit rusty.
