I'm not in keeper leagues, so maybe I'm not understanding something, but why with such a small roster and only being a 12 team league your lineup so bad? Shouldn't there be tons of players on the waiver wire/FA to pick up which are better? Are you waiting for players like ekblad to produce in the future, but then won't there always be a player in the present you can pick up that would match future ekblad anyways?

Sorry i think I posted in a 1year... should be for Keeper. Our free carryover prospects/rookies aren't counted by games played... it's by age. cut off at 24 unless they have been started in an active roaster already. Thus I'm starting all the kids to up the value of the prospects in my team.
I was thinking about this deal which would leave me with the my 5 protects being....

I just need 7 picks to complete my active lineup next season. I already traded up to obtain 4 1st round picks, 3 2nd round picks (rest are spares) 3 3rd round picks and 1 4th.
Might deal a prospect and the 3rds and 4th for another 1st round pick?! (as I might be able to pick up McDavid with one of my 1st round picks)

So guys like Ekblad, Ristolainen, Morin are not keepers? Why are they on your roster now?
Bobrovsky for MacKinnon is fine value for a keeper. Just keep in mind that 25 years old in goalies years is like 20 in forward years. Goalies take way longer to develop. So Bobrovsky is an ideal keeper goalie since he is a Vezina winner at 25.
