I feel Ellis will provide better numbers in your format for the foreseeable future.

Brodin for me as he will be getting lots of minutes both at regular strength and the 2nd powerplay unit. I think Ellis has more upside potential but he is stuck behind Weber, Josi and Jones on the depth chart and there is a little risk he doesn't sign before the start of the season.

I hear ya, this contract dispute interests me and leads me to believe Ellis may be on the move in the near future, clearing the way. His ceiling is nuts OHL stats through the roof, i think a change of scenery would be huge for the kid.

I'll choose Brodin. I would rather have the guy playing 24 minutes a night and having to compete with Suter, Scandella, and Spurgeon for PP time then the guy playing 16 minutes a night competing with Weber, Josi and Jones for PP time. Also, the whole holdout thing scares me a little bit.

Brodin has a clearer path to see more TOI and PP minutes. Ellis is standing in line behind three really good defensemen.

Ellis is a stud offensively. If he was playing instead of Brodin, he would be gold for Minny. Brodin is safe, but boring.

So are TJ Brennan and Brendan Kichton but there's no way you would rather have either of them instead of Brodin. You have to be able to defend to play defence in the NHL and you have to play in the NHL in order to score points for a fantasy team.

Ellis is as sound as there is defensively. He worked real hard to get this part of the game well honed with Trotz.
