    Default Fun with Maps!

    Good evening Dobberites,

I work as a GIS Analyst. I really love my job and I sometimes make a hobby out of it. I was looking at some data on NHL.com and I decided it would be interesting to see if I could make a map with some hockey data.

I am looking at creating something much more complex but for starters here's a map of Points per Game/Birth Country of all the players who played since the 2005-06 season.

    This is the result:

    PPG per Country.jpg

Feel free to comment and/or let me know if you have any suggestions of what I could try next.

    Cheers

Nice work...I was unaware of any NHL players having been born in Indonesia, Brunei or Bahamas.
The higher PPG of Russian and European players is not surprising since usually to make it to the NHL they need to be offensively gifted, otherwise Canadians get those 3rd and 4th line assignments. That explains Canada being ranked in the middle.

Without looking into it too much, I'm sure the players born in countries we don't expect to see on this list are often the sons of diplomats that were working abroad.
