I'm not convinced this is a scam. For it to be a scam, there has to be someone being ripped off. If these are super hardcore GMs, paying a year in advance ensures a certain level of commitment. Could the commish be smart and earn interest? Sure, but I don't know if it's a scam (especially if the GM's know about it).
