I think I'd lean towards Kane, but it is close with the way your scoring works for this year.

My reasoning is that in your format they should come out virtually equal (Kane will get significantly more Goals (worth 2 to 1), PIMs and Hits, but Jumbo Joe will excel in overall pts, PPP, and +/-). But in general it is easier to replace a center than it is a winger. Also, Kane is young and we still haven't seen if he'll live up to his upside, I'm betting on him getting 50-60 pts but if he ever gets into the 70 pt range he's going to be worth a ton more than the aging Thornton. Finally, I'm not a fan of the situation in SJ with him being stripped of the captaincy and everything else, I get the feeling SJ might pull a Vancouver in the next few years, things seem to be coming unraveled a bit

Kane but its close... the thing is I think you should have a good shot at redrafting Thoronton and similar productive centers. Also I would consider keeping Bob in a 12 team league him and Rask would be quite the tandem then you could concentrate on drafting all Players/D

This is probably the deciding factor.

This makes a ton of sense. Without having done a deep dive in your stat categories, it seems heavily weighted to goalies (6 cats G versus 10 cats skater). In a 12-team league Bobrovsky seems way more valuable than either Kane or Thornton. Assuming everyone keeps a goalie, you'll see lots of guys using first round picks in the residual draft to nab those 13th to 20th goalies, who could be the difference to championship hopes. With Rask and Bob kept, you'd have in all likelihood the best goalie tandem in the league (perhaps by a wide margin) and you'd be able to use that 1st rounder on a pretty solid skater.

That said, if you forego Bob, then I'd pretty easily pick Kane over Thornton - the goals alone (and potential hat tricks) would be enough to sway me, let alone when you throw in age difference, C v W scarcity factor, etc. Incidentally though, I think if anything the loss of the C will help Jumbo Joe this year, not hurt him, he'll probably have a great season with something extra to prove (first Team Canada ignoring him and now this).

Based on your scoring cats, and the heavy weighting of goals, I'd have to lean towards Kane also. As others have stated depth at center is easier to come by than depth at wing. If it's just between those two I'd take Kane.

That said I would take a long hard look at Bob also as a 2nd goalie. Having Rask and Bob would make you set in goal. Of course it all depends on what you think you can redraft at each position.
