I would try #1, then #2 if he doesn't bite. However, I'm not a fan of giving away Kessel + for Getzlaf +.
The other owner has no goalies to keep (well, no keeper worthy ones: Nabokov, Thomas and Talbot) so he's interested in any of my guys
I'd prefer to keep Varlamov and Bobrovsky and I can probably sell him on taking a chance on Mason but I won't get a ton of value for him. But since I wouldn't be keeping Mason anyway I can afford to overpay to get a center off him since he has good depth there (he has Getzlaf, Duchene, Carter and Cogliano).
These are the options I am kicking around, do you think they are fair and how would you order them in terms of bang for the buck?
- Mason+Vanek for Getzlaf
- Mason+JVR for Duchene
- Mason+Kessel for Getzlaf+2nd round pick

Ya, I wouldnt do #3. I dont like that offer for you.
#1 or #2 might make him jump though.

These are decent proposals, especially since you need a center.
Your league cats don't list SOG... so the value of Vanek & Kessel isn't as high in this format as it would be in others.
Although your team doesn't have centers, it should still be the most well-stocked position, so don't give up your elite wingers to easily.
I like deal #1, because I think Vanek may end up like most MIN players with decreased stats, while he plays two-way hockey in MIN to win games 2-1.
I like deal #2, because Duchene and the Avs are just a great own and you could use a center.
Kessel... isn't he a RW?
Maybe deal #3 isn't so bad... but I like the Mason/Kessel side better.
One of my best advices in trading is to "simply ask" the other guy what he wants.
You say: "I'm interested in Getzlaf. I could offer you Mason plus one of Vanek/JVR. I'm also willing to trade Kessel, but I'd want more than just Getzlaf."
Other GMs are more willing to make a trade if they feel that THEY chose their players.
Straight-offers rarely are appreciated (in my experience), but if you give another GM some OPTIONS... he'll feel the trade is to his liking... more likely.
Good luck.
Agreed with Marmot. Try 1, then 2, but don't do 3.
i prefer 2 and 1 and i happen to loathe 3
Hockey Pools? Too many to mention. Points only, salary cap and dynasty.
1 and 2 are clear wins for you, if you can swing those its a slam dunk.
3 I am not opposed to as you already stated Mason would be going to the redraft anyways, so its more like Kessel for Getzlaf + 2nd, which I don't mind with your cats. That said it would depend on what you can nab with that 2nd, any idea on the quality of player you can expect there?

I like em in the order you have em listed.
I also lkike Pen's advice to give the guy options and see what he comes back with, that's often a good tactic
Just another voice in the crowd in favour of options #1 & #2.

Well that happened fast, he got back to me right away actually
He didn't bite on the Getzlaf deal but I was able to swing Mason+JVR for Duchene!
That really helps me at C, thanks for the help
