Hasn't this rumor been floating for a while now?

Unless Poile is willing to move one of their "big 3" (Josi, Weber or Jones), this will continue to be nothing more than a rumor and unless he's changed his tunes over Christmas, I don't see it happening.

I think Willis was struggling to find a topic to write on today.

Dont get me wrong, many see this as a win-win for both teams. Edmonton finally has some depth at center and the Preds are crying for a young center to build around. Win-win, but as was mentioned in an earlier thread ( http://forums.dobbersports.com/showt...ighlight=jones) it seems unlikely they make a deal.

I don't see Edmonton trading RNH for Ryan Ellis or Ekholm (who Poile is willing to part with) and I don't see Nashville trading Jones/Josi/Weber. Anything is possible, but this has been discussed for a while now and nothing so far.

As an Oilers fan, I wouldn't be too happy with a RNH for Ellis type of deal. If the Oilers arent getting back one of the big three, then why bother.

The only one I could see being moved is Weber from a salary perspective....but I'm with you on that one Axeman, I doubt it'll happen....

I'm not sure that this situation has to involve Poile being willing to deal one of his top three. Could also boil down to who is willing to accept Mattias Ekholm in exchange for their top centerman. Who blinks first?

Rumour and speculation aren't the same thing. A random blogger struggling to find anything to write so he throws it "this might make sense kind've maybe" isn't a rumour. If there's no quoted source saying the teams are exploring a deal (which there isn't) it's not a rumour. This "rumour" (IE unfounded speculation) has been going on for the better part of three years.

I have to agree with everyone else here, if Nash not willing to deal one of the top 3, then if I'm EDM I'd be telling Nash to either not call us, or tell this writer to get his shit together and quit trying to justify his job to his boss by writing the same old crap from last couple of years. He should be doing a feature on the newest oiler who's gonna change the franchise for the better........... Mr zack kassian.

Do you think Ekholm lands them a top center? I guess it depends on who's more desperate but I would be skeptical if it happens. I can see them dealing him for a center, but a true #1 would be difficult.

I can see if he was part of a package. I don't think he could be a center piece in a deal but maybe Ekholm, a 1st rounder, and a prospect for Nuge

I would be surprised if Edmonton did this but again, just my opinion. Edmonton doesn't need more picks/prospects. They need immediate help and while Ekholm offers an improvement to some of their bottom pairings, he isn't the top, high end D that someone like RNH should bring them.
