Wow decent hockey move. Not sure if either player sees a big increase in value but I would bet on Nino over Rask.

Well that's a terrible trade for Minnesota lol.
I wouldn't be surprised if they instantly put Nino beside Ahovainen
I think the Hurricanes get the better end of this deal if it's 1:1 like reported. Not sure what the Wild were thinking here... Already pretty deep at C, and would only save just over a Mill a season.

If this was a video game, the Wild traded an 80ov who can be an 86 for a guy who's 83.

Couldn't be happier, like this a lot for the Canes but it suits both teams...way to get something for a guy like Rask, though.

This is a terrible, terrible, terrible trade for the Wild. Paul Fenton is officially the worst GM in the league.
In addition to this trade, Fenton also does not believe in analytics of any kind and he has hired his son who has nothing but 2 years of scouting the USHL on his resume to run the Wild draft.

As a Wild fan...meh. What am I missing here? They save some cap but it’s puzzling considering they already have depth at center. Which as far as I can tell is Rask’s primary position. Admittedly don’t know a lot about him, but at first glance it doesn’t look good.
I'm somehow surprised on how high people value Nino compared to Rask. He's having a rough season but not so long ago he was posting very good numbers and outplaying his draft position.
Do you think that was a fluke and Rask can't get back to that kind of production? I'm asking since I personally believe, despite more reliable, Nino's upside is not that high.
Bad deal for Minnesota. Rask is a pretty ordinary player. Nino has issues but he's still a productive winger.

I wonder if Minnesota is looking at this as a long term win... saving 1.2 million a year for the next 4 years in cap space not huge... but if they think Rask is the same player of has a better upside in the 3-4 year range.
I remember when Rask was a hot commodity in fantasy circles. Hes fallen pretty hard. I like this deal for Carolina.
