Sounds like a Tyler Johnson trade isn't too far off.

Tyler Johnson has given the Tampa Bay Lightning several teams to work with in the quest for trade. Sources say the list includes a mix of teams league wide. Good communication between Lightning GM, Julien BriseBois and the Johnson camp.

I actually like this about the league. (Not sure if you were being critical of the league set up here or not.) I like the parity, and the skill that GMing takes as a result.
Maybe I'm just still sour about the Nucks losing to the '94 Rangers with half the salary spent... or Detroit putting together HOF squads for much of the 90's (one year, they outspent everyone by 10 million! -- when the total spent was under 50 million). Or maybe I'm just looking at the Blue Jays trying to compete with the Yankees and BoSox for the last 15 years.
And there have been teams that managed to stay great throughout--Hawks and Kings, along with perennial contenders like the Pens, Sharks for awhile, Preds for awhile, etc.
I love that side of the sport (business).

Which doesn't obtain him anything......
Engagement matters for sure. But not for someone on their last contract, with said contract already signed, already in semi-retirement. And with no link to TSN's website, doesn't drive traffic there either.
Well if he wasn't looking to obtain anything (whether it's personal or commercial gratification), then he wouldn't be on twitter still "breaking news", but ok.

It is in fact, still his job. If he was fully retired, than he would be fully retired.
Doing his job, however, does not make his posts clickbait.
Just like Friedman reporting the Domi/Anderson deal is not clickbait.
They're just doing their jobs.
Gourde looks great at times, but invisible at others. One could argue (perhaps fairly) that Gourde (like many other Lightning players) can't really do much if he isn't given top 6 minutes and top line PP time. That said, Gourde's contract was a bad signing by the Lightning. The guy is 28 years old, and has only played 3 NHL seasons. He managed to score 64 points in his first full season in the NHL, and got paid nicely because of it. It is shocking to me that he is signed for over $5 million a year for another 5 years based on ONE season. It isn't like Gourde was young at the time and had draft pedigree to suggest he had loads of untapped potential. I mean, even his AHL numbers were modest. In parts of 8 AHL seasons, he never scored over 60 pts.
Gourde can be a nice complimentary player who can move up and down the line-up, but that contract is already looking like an over-payment and it will only look worse as Gourde ages. It'd be nice if the Lightning could deal him, but I suspect they are stuck with that contract.
