Skills and potential... Im taking Ellis.
Size and NHL probability....Im taking Del Zotto.
Oppurtunity to succeed....Im taking Del Zotto.
    Offensive instincts....Im taking Ellis.

Del Zotto much much much safer pick.
Ellis has much much much more upside and offensive skills.

    Ill gamble on Ellis.
Del Zotto is safer though if thats what your aiming for

Many ppl are taking this demotion as a bad thing for mdz... No way I own him in 2 leagues and I was happy as hell to here this news... He was struggling and was playing with no confidense... Staal passed him and was playing top pp... MDZ was brought up to fast last year and it was showing this season... I think him bein demoted is a huge thing in his developement and is going to com back next year a lot better all around

Ellis he is a damn good player but he is a small dman... He is good with his stick but not great in his defensive end... He is pretty much a pure offensive dman... I see him being like a 4th line forward and d man on the pp kinda player... He has an amazing slapper I just dont think he is good enough in his defensive end to be a top pairing dman

I personally would take MDZ just for the fact that ellis is a nachville prospect and has webber suter franson and blum in front of him and some might even say josi

I agree, as a MDZ owner, to watch him sh#t the bed this year was painfull. Let him play and learn and grow in the AHL. Better than struggling in the NHL.

I like Ellis, but not in Nashville with Weber, Suter, Franson, Sulzer, Blum, Josi.....

Nashville or not Ellis will have a serious impact in the NHL. His offensive instincts are so good.

Lots of good smallish def in NHL

Classic example Tobias Enstrom - lots of points and plus player despite being on the small side.

No way Ellis is as good defensively as Enstrom. Not even close. If your comparison was based solely on size only, then its fair. Ellis is a defensive liability when he is on the ice. I agree with the offensive potential, but thats not enough for young dmen to crack it in the NHL.

Marc Andre Bergeron - second coming.

I'll say one thing he's much better in his zone then MDZ.

And Marc Andre Bergeron shouldnt even be mentioned in this conversation

I think this one is a push. I'd rather have a player on NYR than Nashville, so will go with MDZ.

Ellis is not amazing in his own end, but it is good enough. MDZ however is worse, I"d say.

Ellis is goign to be an amazing PP quarterback in teh NHL. And not only that, he's going to be able to play very well 5 on 5, and make a great first pass. He is kind of like Tomas Kaberle except better. I don't care about depth charts either in Nashville. He has better offensive instincts then all of them, and will be the best other than Weber. And haven't you guys heard? Amazing players find a way to stand out. Also, Nashville management loves him, and when he's ready, someone else will get moved.

I can't figure out how you guys can say that MDZ is worse when he is the only one actually playing against NHL players.

    Nice arguement not anymore ahahha....

MDZ is better imo to in his own end... Ellis didnt looks great defensively in the world jr and he has had a tons of exp ther already.... MDZ is playing agianst the best in the world... Not fair compo... Well sorry was playing against but mdz imo is better in his own end and the only thing that ellis beats him at his his booming shot... I just think mdz will be a better defenseman in the nhl than ellis will be

Give me MDZ as well. Those hyping Ellis after his WJC need to remember that it was his 3rd and he was there as a 20 yr old, he SHOULD look dominant.

I think Ellis ends up production-wise being somewhere between K.Russell and A.Pietrangelo. But who knows how long it takes him to break through in Nashville - even if he does he's #3. Weber's the captain and Suter is the best defenseman on the team.
