Give me Kaprizov. He's done it already.
If you had the option to draft either of these guys.
Who might be your choice?
Both are available in our upcoming draft and I am trying to potentially get into the top 4 of our draft.
I know in the Dobber fantasy guide Kaprizov is given the higher upside of 95pts vs 85pts for Zegras. But wonder if they are closer than that.

Tough choice. I don't think you can go wrong with either. If positions matter and it's a goal heavy league, I'd run with Kaps. Ultimately, I'd take Kap but it's oh so close for me. Zegras only showed us a small sample size. 0.54 ppg over 15 mins / game. I think he's going to be an assist machine and rack up a lot of points. Kaprizov I feel will score more goals, but be shorter on assists. His contract issues will hopefully be sorted out soon.
I would side with Kaprizov, but this is very close. Zegras oozes special too.
Hockey Pools? Too many to mention. Points only, salary cap and dynasty.
Hard to say...honestly could go either way really, big deciding factor is who these guys get to play with over their careers for the next 5-10 years.
If Rossi can be as good as some pundits think he is, then for me It's Kaprizov all the way, Kap-Rossi (one of Fiala, Boldy, Beckman) as a top line oozes high scoring potential.

I'd say Kaprizov is the right choice but it certainly comes with some risk. He's got a big contract offer sitting in front of him from the KHL while he continues to negotiate with the Wild. He only wants a short term deal because he feels he can get more money in a couple years compared to locking in long term. I don't disagree but does that mean you'll have KHL concerns again in a few years.
I just think there's more risk involved around Kaprizov (KHL). How serious the risk is, who knows. If you're willing to take that risk, I prefer Kaprizov. If you don't like to gamble, I'm pretty sure you'll be happy with Zegras in due time as well. He might take longer than Kaprizov, but he'll get there.

I’m taking Kap all day. I know Zegras has a crazy upside as well but I think the Wild will have more talent around Kap. He’s going to score a lot as well as have the bodies around him to put up assists. I invested in him with a pretty big trade in my dynasty league this past season where I traded Byfield, a 2022 first, 2023 second, and tolvanen for Kaprizov and Hayton. Kaprizov just moves the puck with so much ease and patience already in his career.

I'm afraid I get a little nervous when we project a given players value over their NHL careers based on the assumption that one, rather than the other will play their full career in a better environment than the other. How can you do that over a 15 year span? The wiser course is to acknowledge that a "big deciding factor is who these guys get to play with over their careers for the next 5-10 years" is valid, but no one, and I mean no one, knows how that will ultimately play out. Rather, I think we need to assess these players based singularly on their skills. IMO, this is pretty much a dead heat. These are different types of players. Kaprizov is the purer scorer whereas Zegras sure looks like an elite set up man. I want them both!! As a few folks have mentioned, there is a Russian factor here with Kaprizov. What happens there, who knows, but it seems to be a reality that needs to be acknowledged. Axe has it right I think, if you don't have a problem with taking on that risk, Kaprizov is your guy. If that risk makes you a bit nervous, Zegras is your guy. Honestly, acknowledging a myriad of unknowns over the next 15 years, I think this is, as I already stated, pretty much a dead heat. Time, and plenty of it, will tell.

i think at some point Zegras will be scoring more pints than Kaprizov. So question is do you compete now or can you wait 2-3 years. For compete now i would take Kaprizov and hope he signs, for compete in 2 years plus i like Zegras more.

Kaprizov is the better player but zebras is t far behind. and zebras has zero risk in hitting his ceiling and maintaining it while never ha I guess the KHL being a factor. I think the KHL will always be lingering around this guy. Took so long to come over, would t take much for hi. To head back I fear. I’m taking Zegras here. But I wouldn’t criticize tAking kaprizov. I’ll always take a comparative Canadian over the “Russian Factor”. Personal decision.
Ill go against the grain, Zegras i think will be the better player, remember Kappy is a little older and more developed at this point, zegras is still raw. I will say as mentioned previous if you are a top team in the thick of things gotta go kap, you want the better player throughout the career my pick would be zeg

2023 Draft Picks: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8
**2021/22 League Champion**
Well I have reached out to one of the teams with a top 4 pick.
See if anything comes from it.
I have been leaning little more towards Kaprizov, but I have the benefit that our draft will not be until end October most likely.
Leaning more towards Kaprizov because I could use someone who is more likely to score more goals then assists. But will most certainly be keeping my eye on Zegras.
I prefer Kaprizov this coming season, and Zegras after that. Anaheim still needs a bit of time, imo. I don't think you can go wrong with either choice here though... I just think Zegras has eventual 100 point potential and I prefer playmakers in pools that aren't goal-weighted. (2 chances at an assist per goal )
Also, I think Mctavish is already a pro level bumper position player on the pp (think Pavelski). He has a quick release and is very strong from the slot. That will help Zegras net a lot of PP assists, imo (Comtois is also very good net-front). But again, if you are trying to win next season, Kaprizov will likely help more. After that I think it will gradually move in Zegras' favor.
