Third baseman Matt Chapman and the San Francisco Giants are in agreement on a three-year, $54 million contract, sources tell ESPN. Chapman will receive opt-outs after each of the first two seasons.

So Chapman turns down Jays offer of over $100M because Boras thought he could get more on the open market. Turns out Boras overshot the market again so like Bellinger, he gets the 3yr deal with opt ours after each season. Jays fans are like "why did you let this happen" towards Shatkins but as much as I hate them, this one isn't on them.

Chapman turned down over $20m QO to accept essentially a $20m contract with security. It's better than the QO, but man lol.

Gerrit Cole got an MRI on his elbow last night, and no matter what the results are they've already said they'd get a second opinion. 2 thoughts:
1- You don't get a 2nd opinion unless you're preparing for bad news
2- You announce you'll get a 2nd opinion because the 1st opinion's MRI results are in this morning and need more time to evaluate your backup plan (Snell).

Cole likely to miss at least 1-2months. Cole is traveling to LA to visit noted orthopedic surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache (Dr who worked on Aaron Rodgers achilles).

Blue Jays catcher Danny Jansen has a small fracture in the pisiform bone at the base of his right wrist.

He was hit by a pitch Wednesday.

John Schneider said he’ll be down for a couple of weeks and would hopefully be back early in the season
