Haha, this is sooo true! I have no idea what added value the user gains from this... As annoying as it is though, it can sometimes lead to funny incidents.
I was at the grocery the other day and some man was talking to his wife while he was in the aisles and the conversation was your typical ''get this here, get this brand, blah blah blah...''
At this point, both of us are in the cereal aisle, and I have my back turned to the man while he's searching for a specific jam. His wife was probably just waiting for him to confirm the selection because she was not talking in the background. All of a sudden, you can hear alot of commotion in the background and she just starts cursing her brains out (I assumed something fell and it was either her pet or child that dropped it); throwing F-bombs left and right. The man quickly brought the phone up to his chest and tried to cover the speaker as it took him a good 15 seconds to find the ''remove speaker function'' on his phone. I think it's safe to say that he will think twice next time he wants to use that feature around random people!
