    Overlapping posts, agree completely.

The one thing that could affect Karlsson is the change in D partner, from Kuba to Methot. Methot is a pretty damn solid defensive Dman but doesn't have quite the experience of a Kuba, and remember that a whopping 64% of Karlsson's points last year were at ES so while playing with Kuba (mostly). My gut is it won't affect Karlsson much, the way he plays all his D partner has to do is cover up when he rushes the puck and (infrequently) act as an outlet if Karlsson is effectively forechecked on a play. I think the speed in Ottawa's top 6, especially the top line and eventually with the two young kids emerging, is perfect for Karlsson's game and a major reason why he should continue to put up impressive point totals.

If you go back three years ago (or is it two?) everybody was on Doughty's case after his awesome finish. Then came Duncan Keith. Last year was Yandle's turn.

Karlsson is the new flavor of the month.

Not saying those young guns are not studs but there's something to be said about d-men consistency....

I think this poll is an example of how the hype-meter on Karlsson is so sky high. Karlsson is a good bet to take the points-scoring crown this year, but no way he should be outpacing everyone by this much in this poll. There are so many guys on that list who have a real good shot at being the top D points-wise next year.

Don't get me wrong, I love the kid, but it ain't going to be easy for him to repeat with the quality of offensive blueliners in the league these days.

Karlsson won the D-men scoring by 25 point margin this past season as a 22-year old kid. He was 11th overall in scoring this year. He should be running away with this poll and that's not a knock on any of the other D. Karlsson is simply on his own class right now when talking about D-men scoring. It's not easy to repeat it but Karlsson definitely has what it takes to do it.
