Wow, highway robbery...so he took a paycut, even with the cap going up.
Pretty remarkable that the Senators' staff managed to pull that off. Hell, it's almost worth 1.9M just to have Neil on your team so he won't hurt your players lol.
3 Years 5.75 million. Nice deal for the Sens!

Agree. With these long time vets who have been with teams for a long time and clearly take a hometown discount I wonder how often there is a handshake agreement to give the player a job with the organization (scouting etc) after retirement.
Another great signing after the Karlsson one. Players rally respect the current management team and want to be a part of this up and coming group. Neil probably will never play anywhere else.
Fantastic signing for the Sens.
I totally agree. My attitude regarding Murray's GM skills has taken a 180 in recent years. His constant, frustrating trading away of 1st (for Campoli) and 2nd (for Sutton/ Cullen) round picks, not to mention the Vermette/ Leclaire debacle really had me down on him. Since the Heatley trade he seems to be on a very good run and is steering the organization in the right direction with a steady hand. I really like what the organization is doing top to bottom.
It is a great time to be a Sens fan!

This is why I hate twitter:
@DownGoesSpezza
Chris Neil got another NHL contract? Good to see Ottawa hates good hockey players
@Aadams90
@DownGoesSpezza they gave an aging goon THREE years? Same team that passed on Couturier, not shocked.
James Gleason @JaysGleason
5.75!!! FOR NEIL? LOL...Jesus Ottawa its like feaster took control
Chemmy @felixpotvin
Just what any NHL team needs: a 37 year old Chris Neil.

The fans can wave their towels for three more years of Chris Neil getting his face caved in by occasional fighters.

I don't give a **** if an NHL player is a hard worker. I care about results.
Most of you don't know this, but Neil has a lucrative deal with Ottawa's oil changers. That's why he took the hometown paycut.
If they can't change your oil in 20 minutes or less, Chris pounds the living S&^% out of the mechanics. Odd sales bit, but I heard it works.
Hockey Pools? Too many to mention. Points only, salary cap and dynasty.
