My guess is nothing happens and he plays the season in Boston, but I can't ignore how weird things between Thomas and the Bruins have been this past season.

    that may be the issue

is the rumor about him taking a year off coming out because of he believes he is going to be traded and is trying to do something to prevent that

it is very strange at this point

he did apparently move his family to colorado midseason

I read earlier today that the reason he moved is that it's more to his political liking in that state. We'll see if this actually affects where he plays as many guys play away from their family.

Colorado. Makes sense as both the gun and bear trapping laws are more lax than in Mass.

Plus, flipping and flopping around in the crease is easier on the body in the 'thin air' of mile high.
Hockey Pools? Too many to mention. Points only, salary cap and dynasty.

Well this is now the top story on TSN with the GM confirming that he may take the year off. Strange to say the least, since this is not common behaviour for NHL players. I don't blame him for wanting some time to himself, but it just breaks from the norm big time.

Am I the only one who would be pissed if I was the Bruins in this position? He's got a 35+ contract so if he takes a year off, his caphit is still on the books. Not to mention it makes it impossible to trade him.

Seems kind of like a dick move.

Seriously? How can you blame a guy for wanting to take a year off and spending time with his family??

Agreed. Not a very fair move for the Bruins at all. His trade value is now almost at rock bottom because of the risk. Even if he does decide to play, these rumours would make me even more worried that he's pretty unstable/.

The issue would be about the contract he signed. It's not that he doesn't have the right to take time off or that he should be blamed for wanting a vacation, but that it puts his team in a tough position cap-wise. I was actually under the assumption that they would save the cap dollars.

    Lots of reasons.

A: He signed a contract. An over 35 contract at that.
B: 5 million dollar cap that sticks regardless of whether he plays or not. Also consider that Rask needs an increase and they'll need to sign a back-up. That's a lot of money invested in goalies in a year that the salary cap is most likely going to drop.
    C: He's now untradable.
D: He's got one more year on his contract and he's 38. Tough out the last year of the contract and then go away, you're obviously almost done anyway.

And this is all besides the fact that the Bruins gave him a shot to be successful, to win a Stanely Cup, Vezina, Conn Smyth, etc.. after being passed over for years. I understand he deserves the credit for sticking it out and focing them to give him that opportunity, but this just seems like a giant, selfish, slap in the face to the Bruins organization. TT is really starting to sound like a giant cornhole.
F: P. Kane, Oshie, N. Foligno, Thorton, Coyle, Marleau, Pavelski, Dubinsky
    Steen
    D: seabrooke, Subban,wizniewski,garrison, Carle
    G: Niemi, Fleury,

    G/A-1 pt PIM- .25pts
    Win-2pts Shutouts- 5pts(2+3)
    Keep 10. Top 13 count (4 d, 1 g, 6 Frwd and next highest-any position)
