It was more of a joke, since Kovalev hasn't played in Montreal, and the kostitsyns are Belrussian, as you say.

I am. I meant to say he hadn't played in Montreal in a few years. Just left out the years part, for some odd reason.

I think he will get offered a Kovalchukesque contract from the KHL and no one in the NHL will be willing to pony up that much money for a lazy russian winger. He'll go wherever the money is.

I could see LA being a potential destination if he stays.

islanders have offered fair money to some ufa's over the past few offseasons so it wouldnt surprise me to see them throw their hat in the ring @ 5-6 mil per on a short deal .

whether or not he's the right guy the isles should be spending on is another story.

i say semin signs a long term deal in the nhl. teams are starting to realize he is absolutely useless in the playoffs, and the market for scoring this year is going to be pretty thin...it could be his last chance to get a long term huge pay day...im sure he's dying to get a contract similar to wisniewskis...imagine, getting that kind of financial comfort, he'd be even lazier than he is now.

hasnt it been his own choice to sign short term deals verses longer term deals ?

I was under the impression he liked the flexibility instead of the security .
