Need to Keep 8

Hey all, league settings are:

Roster Positions: C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, LF, CF, RF, Util, SP, SP, RP, RP, P, P, P, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, DL, DL

Batters Stat Categories: Runs (R), Home Runs (HR), Runs Batted In (RBI), Stolen Bases (SB), Batting Average (AVG), On-base Percentage (OBP)

Pitchers Stat Categories: Wins (W), Saves (SV), Strikeouts (K), Holds (HLD), Earned Run Average (ERA), (Walks + Hits)/ Innings Pitched (WHIP)

I can keep any 8... so who would it be from these choices:

Jason Bay (LF)
Gordon Beckham (3B)
Miguel Cabrera (1B)
Josh Hamilton (CF/RF)
Pablo Sandoval (1B/3B)
Chase Utley (2B)

Chad Billingsley
Clayton Kershaw
Ricky Nolasco
Jonathan Papelbon
Francisco Rodríguez
Justin Verlander

I would think my "for sure" keepers have to include Cabrera & Utley... after that not sure who else to pick to round out my 8!

Looking at it now I'm leaning towards all of the hitters minus Beckham, plus Verlander, Kershaw, & Paps... So it would be:

Jason Bay (LF)
Miguel Cabrera (1B)
Josh Hamilton (CF/RF)
Pablo Sandoval (1B/3B)
Chase Utley (2B)

Clayton Kershaw
Jonathan Papelbon
Justin Verlander

Sounds like a sound strategy. Would probably do the same based on the players you mentioned.

yea you wouldnt have anywhere to play beckham. you might be able to trade him to someone who will need a 2B, depending on your league's eligibility requirements.

i might consider keeping nolasco instead of paps. unless all top closers are being kept.

Ya I would love to find a way to keep Beckham or get some value for him as I think he's going to be a fantastic player...

I was debating on Nolasco, but not sure about giving up Paps. I guess I can wait to see which closers are kept before making a decision.

Well one of the GM's just posted that Pujols is for trade so I offered:

C. Billingsley
F. Rodriguez

What do you think?

I think it's a no-brainer as Bills & K-Rod aren't even keepers for me at this point and this GM is going to have VERY bad keepers so it shouldn't come back to bite me in the a$$...

That would be fantastic for you if he takes it. Pujols for really 1 player is a steal.

Well he posted a message saying I'm in the lead right now in the Pujols sweepstakes, so he's trying to drum up more interest, but I think I'm sitting pretty good right now.

I aquired Pujols in my keeper a couple of seasons ago. I don't know what I gave up to get him but it was worth it! I would throw whatever it takes to get him. I like your offer and if you have to throw one more gem or upgrade one of the players in the deal then so be it. See what he's looking for and dangle the goods.
