Looking for a 2B prospect? The pickings are pretty thin out there right now. Here's a guy that's likely available in most leagues. Giavotella isn't a household name yet, but he is a 22 year-old '08 2nd rounder, well on his way to making an impact in KC.

His '09 line in High A Wilmington was .258/.351/.380... with 8 HR, 26 SB (and EIGHT triples). Those numbers are somewhat park inflated, but his '08 line in Low A Burlington was .299/.355/.421, with 4 HR, 10 SB.

So, what to make of this guy? The patience is for real, as is the speed. If he can build off of the 8 homer season last year, and develop 10-15 homer power, he could be a stud. If the power stays in the 5-8 homer range, he still has a shot at being a solid regular.

The real key may be his defense. He made 21 errors in 133 games in '09, while playing exclusively 2B... not terrible for a youngster with a year and a half of pro experience. His range is not outstanding, leading to grumblings about an eventual move to 3B, where his fantasy value would likely be minimal. Look for him to get a full year in AA this year, which will go a long way towards determining his true value.
