Without knowing your league's set-up, I would still protect Holtby.
The kid is running away with the starting job in Washington and Markov's health is so questionable. If you really like the risk, I'm sure Markov will be available to draft in the early rounds. Not many people will invest an early pick on him, IMO.

But then again, depends on your needs, your roster, league's set-up, etc...

Mmmmm, I remember reading the same thing last year, but it was Neuvirth instead of Holtby

Always depending on your roster and requirements, but Id likely take Holtby. Didn't you hear....he's a lock for 2014!!

Holtby, really liking his confidence in net against Boston. Might be in a time share with Neuvy but I think he will be the long term guy!

    thanks for the input

can protect 10 players total and 2 prospects

I can only protect 4 defensive players (combination of Def. & Goalie)

following are locks M. Smith, P.k. subban, Ryan Suter

with Holtby playing so well in round 1 I have to rethink my strategy

finished dead last and realistically should have a strong team in 2 years faster if Crosby stays healthy

leaning towards Holtby like his confidence

Hmmm protect an older defenseman who has played only a had full of games the past two seasons due to repeated knee injuries or a hot young goalie who is carrying his team when it counts most.

Worst case scenario...trade high on Holtby and get a more proven player

    Easy choice...Markov a keeper...definite pass

"Markov" and "keeper" don't even belong in the same sentence.

Your gut is usually correct, it would be a mistake not to go with your intuition.
