With playoffs underway in most leagues this will be the final edition of The Wire for the 2011-12 season. There are still some good pickups available out there if you know where to look. The key thing to keep in mind right now are those players, perhaps on teams out of the race, trying to earn jobs for next season. Some teams will be giving younger players more of an opportunity to see what they can contribute going forward into next season.

Worth a Look

Matt Stajan C CAL (3% owned)
Half of Stajan's 16 points this year have come in March. He has seven points in his last seven games and has been receiving increased ice-time lately as the Flames continue to push for the playoffs. During that span he has also posted 14 shots and looks like a guy who is fighting for a job next season.

Matt Cooke LW PIT (11% owned)
Cooke maybe more than anyone has enjoyed the return of Sidney Crosby as he has four goals in the three games since the Penguins superstar has returned. He also has nine shots and seven hits during that stretch and with Pittsburgh looking to ease Crosby back slowly on the third line, Cooke could see his production increase even more.

Chris Higgins LW VAN (7% owned)
Playing with Ryan Kesler has really helped Higgins' game lately. He's got five points in his last six games to go along with 21 shots. The shots on goal category is where Higgins provides the most value as he has only been held without a shot once all year. He has also recorded multi-shot performances in eight straight contests.

Chad LaRose LW CAR (6% owned)
LaRose has scored in six of his last eight games to go along with 15 hits and is a plus-9 during that span. Actually over his last three games it gets even better as he is a plus-6. Two of the aforementioned goals were game winners and he posted ten shots in a game on March 17th against the Minnesota Wild.

Drop ‘EM

John Carlson D WAS
Carlson has just one point in his last 12 games and is now a minus-12 on the season. He also has just three shots in his last four contests and is a minus-6 over that stretch.

Danny Cleary RW DET
Cleary has just one goal in 15 games and is a minus-5 over his last four contests. He only has three power play points for the entire season and has not recorded any PIM in his last seven games.
