After Crosby re-injured himself against the Bruins on December 5th, Penguins started to struggle. The loss of their captain after just getting him back seemed to be the breaking point for this team. Penguins went 5-9 and for the first time in ages, they were out of playoffs seed. The 1-0 loss to Capitals on January 11th dropped the Penguins to 9th place on Eastern Conference and the team was on a 6 game losing streak in which they only scored 6 goals. Things weren't looking good for the Penguins. Enter the GM of the Penguins, Ray Shero:
"We're making the playoffs, put it that way" Shero said. "Anything less is unacceptable."
The team has responded greatly to Shero's statement. Penguins went on winning 8 straight games after that and has been 17-4-1 in the last 22 games since that. The Penguins are on a roll. The loss of Letang puts the Penguins on a tough spot, once again, but one thing is certain:
In Ray Shero We Trust!
