I like that move. Not huge blockbuster just a solid move.

So in light of this move, are we supposed to read into Pronger's situation?

Pronger's still done for the season and playoffs.

Nothing has changed in that regard.

I like it, ...provided the player moved to get under the 50 contract limit isn't a dumping of Gustaffson or Bourdon.

But given the market (that holmgren seems to have set) it's not a bad price, and gives them some veteran stability, a little more physicality, without giving up one of the young forwards, or taking on cap hit for next year.

Feels like a lot to me. Philly isn't a real contender this season with that goaltending and this move doesn't change that.

I didn't even think of them as a real contender when Pronger was there. It's just not the right time to be making these moves.

    And also @ Ericodaust.

I find those both to be extremely bold statements myself and I am the furthest thing from a philly fan. What pray tell is the logic? Goaltending has struggled for sure but is already righting the ship. So much depth on that team its scary...

Don't get me wrong, with Pronger anything can happen, but since he went down I don't see this team dominating the way they should be.
Of course with Giroux anything can happen in the playoffs, but the goaltending has just been too inconsistent for too long. They have a shot for sure, but giving up a 2nd rounder for Kubina? Does that move push them over the edge? Enough to take down Boston or Detroit? Not really. A 3rd or 4th for a lower profile D would have done the same thing.

i'd much rather have given up jvr + what they gave up to land kubina and grossman for suter. if they really think defense is the issue then getting kubina is useless. grossman from what ive seen is good at blocks/hits, but i doubt kubina will thrive in philly.

Two really solid acquistions by the Flyers, especially Grossman. You don't hear much about this guy, but he's a really solid stay at home dman and can deliver hits with the best of them.
