Default Why can't the kings score? Poor quick!

I own quick and very happy with his play this year and so should the kings! But what can't his team score? Poor guy must have the most 2-1,2-0,1-0 losses in the league! He gives his team a chance every night yet the kings font seem to be able to score! Will that improve soon?

Nope, that's not their system... they're playing trap hockey... dump the puck, chase, opponent gets it, sit back and wait... try to capitalize on turnovers but don't take risks to give up a goal...

    It's just boring hockey...

Kings are happy to sit back wait for a mistake and win 1-0 rather than pushing to win by more.

Good bye fantasy value for Kopitar, Brown, Williams, Doughty and JJ...

    Gold for Quick though.

Sutter loves the trap, but somebody needs to tell this guy that it's only effective if you have the lead.

Another reason is that they're using Mike Richards on the PK and in a shut-down role. Also, Mike Richards blows this year.

Gotlaid...you nailed it..except for one thing. When the Kings don't score, and specifically, when they don't have the lead, they're not anywhere near as effective. Quick's value takes a hit. I've watched a fair bit of their games, and man, Richards sure plays on the perimeter a lot these days. Kopitar looks like the only guy capable of generating any offense.

Fantasy owners don't see eye to eye with the Sutters.

They should be called the Queens or possibly even the Virgins.

Yet another source stating the obvious, lobbying for the Kings to get some offense:

I'm starting wonder if they are going to have to start roofie-ing the goalies in order to score... this is just dismal.

Back before Christmas (or just after) I predicted they'd bounce back and raise their shooting percentage up over 7% by year's end... it ain't happening though.

I still believe it's gotta turn around a little at some point... they shoot enough and statistically speaking they have to start seeing more of those go in at some point.

They are at 6.8% shooting... worst full season mark since the lock-out was the Devils at 7.3% last year. They ought to get close to that number.

Good candidate for either a strong playoff run or a blood bath off-season.

EDIT: Apparently they were shooting at 6.9% back before Christmas when this last came up... so they actually managed to get worse. F**k me!

Obviously their style is a factor but look at that roster. Their wingers are just dreadful.

    quick:

top 3 in sv%, gaa, and shutouts, yet only 23 wins in 47 games...

    crazy stat of the day:
the kings have earned 11 points this year in games they have scored 0 or 1 goal...

Totally true. The style of play and quality of wingers is killing them. If it was just one and not the other, perhaps one could mask the other. Good Lord.

The Kings are the most boring team in the NHL.
For a guy who lives in LA I am totally rooting for every other team. Sad but true.
Sutter is a horrible coach as far as fans go.
But who wants to bring an exciting team to LA?
Dumb Lombardi. The great one put LA into a fan frenzy.

We been waiting ever since. Still no Cup.

Wow, sakic....always saw the "West Coast" and just figured Van City. So, you get to see the Kings alot then? I only watch them when they play my home team, the Canucks. You're right, they are definitely in my top 5 most hated teams to watch. They're in the same class as the Devils, Preds, CBJ, Minny and TBay for defenisve trap styles.

It's too bad too, because the Kings have the goalie, some super solid D, and some good offensive pieces in place. When Sutter got hire...I jetissoned out my last remaining Kings.......Lombardi's next to go.
