Nope, that's one place he won't go because the Wings are smart enough to know that he is a bad investment. AT 7.5 mill a year, you better be getting 85-90 points a year. Nash is a perrenial 65 point guy. He's lazy, uninterested and just plain over rated. Let him go to the Rangers and play with B. Rich and then for the hell of it call up Wade Redden. Between the three of them they might get 100 points in a year.

IMO, Nash has never lived up to his supposed potential. As a Leafs fan, I don't want him here. Let him go to a hockey dead zone like Phoenix or Florida. This way he'll still have no pressure to perform.

Head to Head League: 1 point for G, 1 point for A. 2 for Goalie win, 3 for SO.
Start 6 guys every week. 3 O, 2 D and 1G. No substitutions once they are in (before the first game starts on Monday).
Protect 3 players every year in keeper.
    10 rounds of drafting

D: Letang, Doughty, Karlsson, Grzelcyk, Faulk,

This is true, that Getzlaf Heatley Nash line in the World Championships in 2008 was monstrous, and Nash was quite effective in Olympics 2010 as well once he was on that lnie with Richards and Toews (that line won Gold for us, simple as that).

Why is it so obvious? Nash is a $7.8 mil cap hit and Ryan is only at $5.1, while both produce the same numbers. The obvious argument is 'Ryan is doing it with much better line mates', but on the other side, Nash is given every opportunity to succeed playing over 19+ minutes a night and Bobby Ryan doesn't even get powerplay time with the big Ducks duo (prior to last game).

    Cap Hit: Nash $7.8/Ryan $5.1
    Age: Nash 27/Ryan 24
    Goals: Nash 30+ 5 straight seasons/Ryan 30+ 3 straight seasons
    Linemates: Advantage Ryan
    Powerplay time: Advantage Nash
    Even Strength Time: Advantage Nash
    Free-Range by coach: Advantage Nash
Give-away/Take-away (prior to this season): equal

Rick Nash is often the only player on his line shooting the puck whereas in Anaheim they have Corey Perry blasting away several times a night. It's difficult to say how a player would react to new surroundings and linemates. Look at Richards in NY, Richards in LA, Havlat in SJ (when he was healthy). Look at the play of Tavares, Spezza, Selanne, Vrbata and even Couture with average linemates all playing tremendous hockey. What has Nash ever won? A gold medal for a team which dominates the sport? I'd be willing to give Ryan the advantage in this scenario.

Speaking of numbers, this guy is arguing that Nash's contract would destroy NY"s rebuild:

I don't know why I keep hearing TSN and other media companies discussing a Vancouver possibility.

Are the Canucks suddenly gonna be able to pull $7.8 million in cap space out of their ass? Durrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....

I actually agree with this. Contenders are better off sticking with what works and plug the depth holes with rentals that are hungry for a new contract. When teams make big changes there is an adjustment period and the Rangers can't afford to have an adjustment period extend into the playoffs. Too risky IMO.

The most compelling reason for the Rangers NOT to trade for Nash at the deadline is team chemistry. In fact, any trade risks upsetting the incredible team chemistry they have going right now, which is probably more important than any piece you can add to the player puzzle.

That said, the most compelling reason for the the Rangers to trade for Nash is their need for a scoring left winger, it's been a problem all year and Wolski obviously wasn't the answer they were hoping for in this regard.

Was just listening to Elliott Friedman on the bob mcowan show and he raised LA as a possibility. Is it me or would that just to be too easy , M. Richards to the jackets to play with his boyfriend Carter and Nash goes to LA, Kopitar finally gets the winger he needs and Stoll/Loktionov take over that second line centre role ....... Richards makes 2 mill less than Nash bit his contract is 2 years longer. Probably some other pieces but that could be the meat and potatoes of the deal.

that would be interesting...always thought the reunion would be carter to LA, never once thought of richards to columbus. doubt it happens though, carter wants out of columbus, but i guess if richards was brought in he would stay? or maybe they would both get pissed off and demand to leave? having one pissed off player is better than having two pissed off players that like each other.

If Nash goes to LA I'd be shocked if Bernier isn't involved.
