I've been offered Briere for my Alfredsson.

Only extra details I can think of are the salaries involved:
Briere at $7.70
Alfy at $5.25
Total cap space is $100.
Alfie's a borderline consideration for a keeper spot...but this is assuming he doesn't retire this offseason.
The appeal for this season for me is getting more PIMs from Briere, while maybe losing a bit of offense.
I'm leaning towards accepting since I think Briere's due to take off soon.
Am I missing anything major?

I think from now on you have to treat Alfie as a retirement threat. Briere has a few more seasons left in him, but that's a pretty big salary difference for some PIM (especially with that kind of cap)
Can you send him a plug and get some sort of mid/late round pick upgrade just to even out the deal, salary-wise?
Yep Briere > Alfie for sure. And you're right in saying that you can definitely keep him once the season is up as I think he would fit into your top grouping.
I do think Alfie will play another year though.....
I like the points brought up for the others. I, too, believe you treat DA as a retirement threat. Even if he doesn't retire as soon as this year, Briere is going to be a productive player for you now and after DA retires. I would do this deal.

Another node for the Briere side here. The salary increase is minor enough and Briere should get you a couple more good seasons in than Alfie, who as mentioned is a retirement threat. I also like the Flyers in the next few seasons over the Sens, which can hopefully equate to greater production from Briere.
