When is Washington going to get some protection for him? Green has a big target on his back and the opposition takes full advantage knowing that there wont be any repercussions. Karlsson would get the same treatment but Murray knows better.
Anything new on Green?

from twitter, he was skating on his own today at Kettler.

#Caps' Mike Green skates. Great news for a team that needs it: http://wtim.es/xojP2o
Strength and conditioning Mark Nemish stepping onto the ice Thursday at Kettler Capitals Iceplex looked like a good sign. Then injured defenseman Mike Green soon followed.
That's great news for the Washington Capitals, who are in need for some after two straight division losses in Florida. Green had sports hernia surgery Jan. 17 in St. Louis and was expected to start skating within two weeks.
This appears to be on schedule with that. The time frame for Green's return to the Caps' lineup was set at four-to-six weeks, which could mean late February or early March.
Tell him to take his time! I have Kuba as my #6 d-man and hes performing like a Mike Green lite in terms of production haha

Dale Hunter: Mike Green’s recovery ‘right on schedule’
By Katie Carrera
It’s not unusual to see Mike Green on the ice these days as he recovers from undergoing sports hernia surgery. On Monday, however, Green was on the ice for more than an hour — the longest he’s skated since the surgery on Jan. 17.
“That’s good. He’s feeling better every day,” Coach Dale Hunter said, “It takes time, but the schedule he’s on, he’s right on schedule.”
The defenseman, who has only appeared in 10 games this season because of injuries, was on the ice shooting before his teammates started their session. He remained for the optional skate and then worked out briefly afterward with assistant coach Dean Evason and Mike Knuble, who is likely a healthy scratch tonight.
Tuesday marks four weeks since Green underwent surgery to repair what General Manager George McPhee then called a “little tear in the stomach” lining. When the Capitals announced that the two-time Norris Trophy finalist would have surgery they estimated he would be able to return in four-to-six weeks.
That Green skated for more than an hour is certainly a good sign, but he will need a few days of full practice with the rest of the team before he is able to return. Based on Hunter’s comments, one would imagine that Green could still make it back in the estimated timeframe as six weeks would be Feb. 28, one day after the trade deadline

He's travelling with the team so there is a chance that he still may play this weekend.

There's always a chane he plays 2 and 1/2 per periods, gets three points, and then rips his groing and is gone for the season.

If you had actually read anything about his groin injuries the last 18 months or so and this last surgery, you wouldn't make that smartass comment.
