Predictions on JT/Burn's point totals by the end of the year? Think they can hit 82 and 44?
Laich wouldn't be bad, but I'd prefer Brouwer from the Caps. I've been thinking these two teams could make a trade. Someone like Brouwer, Joel Ward, Chimera, etc would be a good grit guy the Sharks could use. Then again, I think we might be better off getting another good D-man. I'm not sold on that bottom pairing. I know they're a bottom pair, but Defense is huge going into a long playoff with injuries and the like.

Thornton maybe if he has some big games lektrix. He just hasn't had those 4 assist nights like he used to. He's playing well, but his game has changed from more of a 2-way forward to pure offensive dominance. I just don't see him pulling that off. I see him hitting 75.
Burns has played better, but I'm going to guess he hits 39 max this year, but hits 44 next season. I think he's going to play on a higher pace from here on out, but I just wouldn't predict that with the fact he's under 20 right now.

So with the trade deadline coming upon us, I was thinking about some possible rental players that the Sharks could go after. With the cap being what it is, I was shocked to see how much room the Sharks can handle today and what they will be able to add by the deadline. As of now they could take on a cap hit of about 2.5 million with that going up to about 4.5 by the deadline.
Now, this is definitely a pipedream, but that means numbers-wise Parise (if he does become available, which I thinking more and more he will be based on their financial woes) is already within reason today. The Sharks can fit him under the cap space available as is. Now, what could the Sharks truly offer for such a fine specimen? That is truly the tricky part. The Sharks do not have much in prospects at all, but do have draft picks. They've never been shy about trading those away, but part of me wonders if Nittymaki would be someone NJ wants, which I find very unlikely so I don't see that happening. Maybe a young guy like Justin Braun or Nick Petrecki might interest them on the backend since they are having lots of injuries there. Shoot, could send Colin White back to them.
Other players I am interested in for the Sharks down the road would be people like Troy Brouwer (A huge fantasy of mine that won't come to fruition), Sheldon Souray for more power on the backend, maybe someone like Joel Ward would be a fit for the 3rd line to throw in front of goalies in the playoffs, but he's signed for too long. Brouwer and Ward are more the type of players I'm thinking of, but Sheldon Souray is a real possibility if the Stars become sellers by late February. The Sharks had been interested in him before when Edmonton was trying to get rid of him, but hadn't been able to see enough of him to really go. He's have to be a 3rd line guy, but that's a hell of a shot for a 3rd liner. Thought I'd throw this out there after the disappointing loss to the Canucks. Sadly, I did not get to watch the game as I was helping my sister-in-law move.
Curious as to

They're are apparently rumors that the Maple Leafs are interested in Ryan Clowe. To be honest, this isn't a move I would particularly want to see. I like Clowe, but when Havlat is back our top 6 will be even more crowded. We have too many natural centers (not really a big issue), but our bottom 3 are not as good. The bottom 6 are playing fairly well considering what they are meant to do.
The other reason why I don't like losing Clowe is the fact that he's one of the only bigger guys who doesn't mind getting in front of the net on the team. Unless we can replace that type of grinder, it's a tough loss to take.
I thought I'd mention that Couture was the last guy to get picked and couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. He'll enjoy the car and do something with it lol. I already like his tweet that he made about it today. Or was it last night and I just saw it today?

Looks like it's going to be quite a bit longer than the original 6-8 week timeframe, more like early to mid March:

That is a bummer, but if he comes back and stays healthy throughout playoffs, I think that will work out well. He can bring it during that time. I got to admit that having Clowe back is good.
Oh and I haven't been updating as much lately because I recently cancelled my Satellite. I'm going to try to watch a little bit of tonight's game at the in-laws tonight, but they all love watching the NBC lineup. Anyhoo, I'll hopefully be getting Satellite again in the near future as we figure out our new budget with the baby. Once that is done, I'll probably be back to posting more on the Sharks here.
I like that Clowe is wearing a visor. I think this is something that's going to gain more and more support in the league, but for a tough guy like Clowe it's going to hurt his pride a little and I wouldn't be surprised if he lights up some people tonight to show he still has grit.

They had a fairly good game the other night. I'm hoping I can get out of a party tonight and go to the folks house and watch the game lol.

I got to watch the Chicago game at my parents house. Some good stuff and some bad things as well. The bad first, they're a bit inconsistent on the backend still. It really is that last pairing of White and Braun that were not great defensively, but then again, that's a third pairing for you. I'd love to see them find a way to make that a little better.
The good, Burns played great and I love seeing him pick it up in San Jose. I think he's going to put up big fantasy numbers soon. He still has a shot at 40+ which is respectable, but if he can get closer to 50 we'll see what he's truly capable of there even though Boyle steals some good ice time from him.
Another note, I think that game woke up Chicago. I think the 'Hawks still remember how to rock it and will bring it again. I'd love to see a rematch of a conference finals between those two with the Sharks prevailing. Speaking of, our powerplay was really good on Friday night as well.
I won't get to watch tonight's game, but I keep reading up on what's going on so I can still provide some insight.

Watching this Sharks/Caps game, I think SJ is a tad peeved from being shutout versus the Blues, and the Caps are catching the brunt of their anger.
@SmittysRant
dominance by the sharks. at the same time, i dont think the caps were very engaged
The Caps have been very hit and miss this year. It's like they don't fully have their playing identity figured out. I'm just glad to see the Sharks did well against a team that can be good. Love seeing that Jumbo Joe is getting on the scoresheet more these days. He has 12 points in his last 7 games and that includes 1 game without any points.
