The real problem is that we are far from figuring out the brain. A lot of discoveries are made through reverse-engineering. The doctors and scientists are basically learning on-the-fly with concussions. So while it's annoying that they can't give timetables for a return it's basically the truth.

I think there was one thing that we can take from that press conference that we didn't know before yesterday. Instead of waiting for what was diagnosed as a concussion to heal on its own, waiting for the symptoms to subside, because that is how everyone has dealt with them so far; now there is the soft tissue injury in the neck that could be the sole reason for these symptoms and it can be treated by other means than just waiting. Sounds like they are trying to reduce the swelling and seeing what happens. It is possible tho that he has a concussion still and once this neck injury is treated he could still have symptoms due to the concussion.

At least we are not just waiting for the symptoms to go away tho and there is a treatment plan that could help clear the symptoms he is feeling.
